Bombshell: Leaked Kremlin docs show 2016 Russian plan to boost "mentally unstable" Trump campaign

It could be. Someone on twitter pointed out that there’s one hedge phrase in the Guardian article, something about the chain of custody, but really, does this dovetail with what we know? With what we saw in 2016, what we watched happen? Does this sound remotely farfetched? Does it change the fact that the GOP is still pumping out divisive propaganda?

This may be more Russian disinformation. But it doesn’t seem like it.

Would the Russians really drop such a bombshell that paints Putin and Russian intelligence in such a bad light? And likely incur even more sanctions put against them? I doubt it.

Parts of it are likely true. The best disinformation mixes truth and lies so it's hard to sort out what is what.

Yes, the best disinfo is a mix of truth and lies. But that doesn’t change the fact that the GOP and right wing media outlets are very clearly working against the interests of the United States. I do not understand why, but I know they aren’t faithful to the US.

Putin must have enemies too. And, it may not be Putin who leaked it. Maybe another government's spies stole it.

Thank you James Bond!

NP here. I hope this would be the reason. Otherwise it seems like it's stirring the pot to get us to rip each other to pieces so they don't need to do it themselves. It really sucks that cognitive dissonance of the far right will mean that they immediately dismiss this as fake news and nothing will change.

We should focus our attention and anger at Russia first and treasonous Republicans second. There needs to be backlash and consequences for Russia for their meddling in American politics. It's already bad enough without their meddling.

Putin is tossing Trump chum into the waters. He no longer needs the mentally deranged insecurity-laden oaf.

Trump manically shouting about the papers now per Daily Mail. Bloviating neutered bull. Putin used a knife this time.

Lol. I really do wonder if Putin leaked this on his own behalf, just to enjoy messing with Trump and to keep him in line.

This is EXACTLY what Putin is doing.

It fits Putin’s old playbook precisely: here is his dated, but still followed, strategy book:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foundations_of_Geopolitics

“ In the United States:

Russia should use its special services within the borders of the United States to fuel instability and separatism, for instance, provoke "Afro-American racists". Russia should "introduce geopolitical disorder into internal American activity, encouraging all kinds of separatism and ethnic, social and racial conflicts, actively supporting all dissident movements – extremist, racist, and sectarian groups, thus destabilizing internal political processes in the U.S. It would also make sense simultaneously to support isolationist tendencies in American politics".[9]”

If you believe any of the “bombshell” OP posted, then you just fell for Putin’s deception.

Sad so many believe this obvious deception attempt by the Kremlin.

And you alone know the truth, I guess. There’s no way that anything real gets released or hacked or discovered. Anything negative about Russia is a lie.

Sorry I just don’t believe it.

I agree that Trump was the best way for Russia to destabilize the US. I also am convinced (by the evidence) that Russia interfered in our elections on behalf of team Trump. No question about any of that.

But this memo? It’s too pat. Too much what a liberal (like me) would assume to exist.

It’s a good fake. But it’s a fake.

Prove it then.

So lemme get this right.... So you're saying the Kremlin is trying to deceive us away from their intent to destabilize the US by "leaking" fake documents that are actually talking about their actual intent to destabilize the US?

Huhwhat?

That’s not how this works. The memo has to be verified. I don’t have to prove that it’s fake.

I am a research scientist. Any time I see results that are exactly what I hoped for, I double and triple check my assumptions and experiment design so I didn’t create the answer I wanted. This feels fake to me and I will need it be validated thoroughly before I believe it.
