+1. This is why (to me) all the kvetching about them wanting to be famous rings hollow. They already are! And they could certainly find ways to just lead rich people lives if they wanted. But that would be an incredible waste of influence. They have incredible notoriety and to NOT use it to do things like this would be like a moral failing.

Yes this is key. They don't want speculative or critical articles, photos they haven't set up and sanctioned. They want total control. Which they obviously cannot have, fully - and that perpetuates the cycle of anger and rage and court cases and the madness of them both, frankly. They are clever enough to try and control things but not clever or experienced (in her case) enough to know it's not entirely within their hands.
