Teen/tween girls involved in carjackings

Honestly this is what will start happening if these types of crimes continue to increase without consequences for the criminals. People will take matters into their own hands and these young kids will try to car jack the wrong car with a person carrying a gun.

Happened this week in Chevy Chase DC. Vigilante chased a carjacking suspect that crashed the car he stole an hour earlier. Chased him down the street and fired at him. I do see this happening more if crime doesn't improve.

Or in this case, lack of.

Easy to say.

Maybe gangs threaten to kill the families of the 12 year olds unless they steal cars. We don’t know.

What, you thought legalizing marijuana would keep them pacified?

I think there was a price to be paid for watching those three misogynist, patriarchal, and very white shows.

Seriously though, I wonder if there is something to this. Is the prevalence of marijuana creating a sort of “anything goes” vibe in DC and an expectation that crime here is tolerated and accepted?

I think so. The other consequence is that people who have a lot to lose when crime rises are basically incapacitated by intoxication. Too mellow to complain as the city goes to the dogs. Seriously, look how often ordinary people post on DCUM about "partaking." Bowser and our idiotic councilmembers have all those people's votes because she facilitated their little habit. Now they can do whatever they want and not enough voters are in any condition to care.

I find the opinions on this board to be so off the wall sometimes that I'm happy to see that this poster did not get much support.

interesting theory....

A DC politician did tell me she pays attention when her phone (or email) blows up. That's why I occasionally post the DC Council contact info here. They do respond to pressure. Use it!

Then put the repeat offenders in jail and keep them there.

Yes. There was a squeegee guy on Wisconsin Avenue today in Tenleytown. We are quickly turning into 1970s NYC. This will take years to turn around if we don’t act soon.
