Am I the only one in the world that hates Breaking Bad?

It's okay. I liked Breaking Bad, but it's not my favorite show ever. Also, when we were watching the last season, my DH started having disturbing dreams because the show is so dark and violent, which is also something I experienced when watching the Sopranos. It's okay to not like it, and probably indicates that you are not a follower who will watch something you don't enjoy just because everyone else is. That's good!

Here are a bunch of TV shows I enjoyed more than Breaking Bad:

Mad Men
Battlestar Galactica
For All Mankind (Apple TV, it's so good!)
The Good Place
Arrested Development
The Wire
Deadwood
The Good Wife

Watch what you want!

I loved it when it first came out. I tried to watch it again, but it is incredibly tedious. Maybe because I know the story by now, but I had expected to enjoy all the details I missed upon rewatch. But no, it's just tedious

Yes, me too. Hated Breaking Bad, and hated The Wire. Shows for men.

ACK! No! I loved both of these so much. But I do tend to love bro-shows. Buddy cop movies? Love them... But the English major in me loved BB and The Wire because of the writing. They are really well done!

Oddly I hated BB but LOVED The Wire.

I loved BB and The Wire. Could never get into Walking Dead though. I think I’d like GOT if I tried, though I don’t get entertained by sexual violence so maybe not.

I thought it was good but nothing special.

On the other hand, I think The Wire is genius. I doubt anything will ever be better.

I watched until the bathtub bursting through the ceiling scene, then couldn't watch again. (But for some reason, GOT violence never bothered me as much.)

My husband loved BB, though.

If you hate it you hate it. One thing that stood out upon rewatch is how much the first season is extremely similar in tone and pacing to A LOT of indie movies from the mid-2000s era. It really changes stylistically in the second and third seasons.

Nope. Couldn't get past the second episode. I can't stand watching people do stupid or incredibly upsetting things that will not end well. Why would I want to watch that? It was so disgusting just to be disgusting. Added nothing to the show. That's lazy writing IMHO.

I watched the first couple episodes then stopped. Picked it up again about a year later and eventually got through the entire thing. Enjoyed it (I am a female in my 50’s) but thought it was overrated. When people rave so much, it’s hard to live up to the hype,

I had a hard time buying into the main character’s motives, psyche, and descent (Walt). I thought Jesse was by far the most interesting character.

That said, I liked The Sopranos, Ozark, and Season One of “24” infinity more than BB.

I’m a woman and loved that show. Complex human and family relationships and a fascinating glimpse of descent into evil that can happen to the average person.

This. A good man, with good motives, devolves unbelievably.

I watched it.... mostly for the scenery. I am a very visual person and love that part of America, and the cinematography was stunning. However the show made me feel so so depressed every single time. My DH and I watched all the episodes years ago. I’m glad it’s over. I wouldn’t call it enjoyable. But yeah I got into it. Totally icky and unfair to skyler. But whatever.

Liked BB and the Sopranos!
The Wire - ugh

Way too dark. DH had it on so I overheard most of it from the other room. I only liked Better Call Saul!

I’m a woman—I love Breaking Bad. I also love the Wire; Narcos; The Americans; Mad Men.

All these are character shows with anti-heroes. I can’t get enough of them and I’m looking for a recommendation. I can’t get into GOT or Dexter or Walking Dead so something else??
