| Because a thick mask is rather suffocating when outside, especially for little kids running around. But switching to something more "breathable" defeats the purpose, IMO. |
Agree. “Mean girl moms” “unmasking” to make you leave the playground? Really? Here’s a tip-nobody is thinking about you much if at all. People are just living their lives. |
You have to understand PP. To people on the left, everything is a personal insult. Everything is about them. |
Sure, sure that would explain the belly aching about Dr. Seuss. |
Get better masks. My oldest has been in school since September. All the kids wear masks all day, including outside and in gym. Not a single case. |
Actually there is no data on the variants with regard to masking and vaccines yet. So your stance is quite unscientific as well. Contact tracing shows that the more transmissible strains are infecting people within a matter of a few (not fifteen) minutes indoors with masks. If you are outside in cold weather, aerosol lingers for longer than in warm weather. Would need to see data first to draw conclusions about best practices. And pretty much everyone agrees there will be boosters for the variants at some point this year. Honestly, I think it’s very rude to be using a public space — outside or inside — without masks. That whole attitude is what has drawn this out. There was a new study that the US could have avoided 40% of its deaths if they had encouraged masks instead of politicizing this and spreading conspiracy theories. Is that scientific enough for you? https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/us-news/2021/feb/10/us-coronavirus-response-donald-trump-health-policy I avoid playgrounds with parents who don’t mask, and I do notice who is out there with one and without one. It’s a matter of doing your duty to help others. If you can’t do that then don’t, but don’t make excuses about why. |
| We don’t wear masks outdoors. I’m sorry if that scares you. We are diligent about masking indoors. Outdoors seems silly. Also, I am fully vaccinated. |
All they did was compare the U.S. death rate to the death rate in some other countries. It's not just that they didn't find that masks matter, their study design didn't attempt to test any theories about the causes, including masks. They basically aggregated some data, drew a line, and calculated the area under the line. |
Maybe that’s because *no other country* refused to mask on the level of the US? Because no other country had almost half of the population believing this was a hoax? Hmm... yeah I wonder why we did so much worse than other countries. Maybe it’s our drinking water 🤔 |
It's not even about covid, it's comparing life expectancy in general. They point to...colonialism, white supremacy, military spending, and lack of universal health care coverage, among other things. (Of course, those would be speculative as well, since their study mechanism was to average some numbers and draw a line.) |
| A lot of folks are fully vaccinated now and going to restaurants, not wearing masks outside, etc. I can’t wait to join them!!! |
Last unmasked parent I saw at the playground turned out to be a Trumper who bragged about being a political appointee. I asked her how it felt to have a job only because of lies, and how she felt that Republican elites lie to Republican voters because their actually policies are toxic and destructive. It was fun to watch her head explode, but she had no answers. I did get the feeling that she’d never been told before “your voters believe lies.” |
| 50 people is far more concerning. If they are not near you or socializing fine |
A shot of vaccine with mRNA will create proteins in your body to help your body prepare for the SARS-CoV-2 virus. It is not a forcefield against it. When you are fully vaccinated you CAN still contract the virus, get the disease and spread it. You should get the vaccine but it does not make you bullet proof. This is not an FDA approved vaccine. It is an emergency use vaccine. The efficacy is still unknown and will be for some time. |
Are they tested weekly? |
