How did you respond to Return to school survey

I will never understand why you people are so afraid.

I’m not afraid, but I do think hybrid has the potential to be a logistical mess for my 6th grader with ADHD. Without more details on how it will actually look and work, there’s no way we’re rocking the boat mid year.

Hybrid for our 3rd graders.

It preserves the option for us to remain virtual if we wish, but keeps open the possibility of some in -person instruction.

We didn't request transportation - we can manage driving for a few months in lieu of the usual bus.

DL all the way. With the pandemic surging, opening schools is a pretty terrible idea.

Ditto.

At the same time, MCPS is so conservative that it's likely that by the time they are comfortable opening, DH and I will be comfortable sending. I was imagining that it's possible that we'll hit the <5 per 100,000 cases in April or May, dh and I will have had vaccine, and my selection of 'virtual' would keep my kids from face-to-face (which they desperately want). So choosing the hybrid model keeps the option open.

If they open face-to-face prior to our getting the vaccine, I may well use the option of shifting to virtual immediately.

Where did you get the info? I'm curious about our school.

Agree. It is unreal

My husband and I disagreed: I wanted to choose hybrid for our K and 2nd grader. He wanted to stick with DL. He won, as he is in charge of facilitating DL while I WOH. My 2nd grader is going to flip the hell out if they go back and she's stuck at home!

My ES principal said she can see who returned the survey but not what they picked. As of last night.

They'll only open if the extremely low metrics are met.

ES, MS, and HS kids - chose hybrid for all. Would have chosen FT in school if that had been an option.

This was my thinking, too. Chose hybrid for 9th and 11th graders (both of whom are doing great with DL) to keep the option open. No transportation needed. But I don't think it's very likely they'll end up on campus this year. Still, even if it was only for a month, I'd love to have them spend a bit of time at school in person, especially the freshman who doesn't know anyone at the new school.

Hybrid for 9th and 6th, no transportation needed. They’re doing fine academically but really, really want to see people in person again. I’m pretty conservative with our covid exposure... but MCPS seems much more conservative, so I don’t think they will send them back before I’m comfortable.

DL for 4th grader. He has to take a bus for an hour for a special placement so no way I want him on a bus and I work FT... so better to stay home for now... but this is getting old!

Why do you care whether other people don't go back to school?
