How did you respond to Return to school survey

Do you think they called it a survey to drive down response rate and default more students into DL?

Schools want/need a response from as many families as possible. At my school, teachers were given a list of families who had not yet responded to the survey and we were given instructions to call these families to ask them to please complete the survey. We mailed the link to the survey to our families many times as well.

I am not afraid but Pyle is stuffed to the rafters with kids, many of them annoying little assholes. My kids are doing a lot better in DL without the distraction thanks.

What? You want your kid to be in DL because the kids at Pyle as a$$holes (your words, not mine - my kids are at a totally different middle school)?

Okay, that’s cool, I guess? I hope you support the rest of us going back to school though.

If the kids at Pyle are really that bad, maybe you could send your to private? We can’t afford private and I would like to see MCPS reopen.

I didn't say ALL the kids were assholes. Please check your reading comp. Also this is 8th grade for us, once this academic year is over we move to HS.

True, you said many. And the many assholes from Pyle will follow your child to HS.

Some of them may indeed, yes.

3rd grade and 6th grade, definitely sending them back as soon as possible. Kids need to around other kids.

My kids are all going back. We are also applying to private’s right now too because MCPS won’t be full time next year and it’s just ridiculous.

Kids die of suicide every year. Please provide valid proof that these suicides were all from DL and that they would not have occurred if school was in session in person full time.

Thanks in advance.

plus can you prove that these were suicides because of the pandemic and not because of distance learning?

Well, I think people don’t realize that even if they put hybrid as their chosen option, that doesn’t mean that all of a sudden, their kids will be thrown back into in-person school, starting February 2020.

That will not be the case.

What do you base this opinion on?

Well, for one thing, we haven't invented time travel yet.

We put down DL. It's working for us, and I'd rather kids who really need to be in person get going before my kids do. We'll stay out of the way, for now.

Selected in person for third and sixth graders

In person for all of my kids. Should have started in Aug and home for Q2. But MCPS is lazy and slow.

DL for 1st grader on IEP. COVID is not over.

Same - without additional details I wasn't able to make an informed decision. Oh well.

What I would like to know is if you chose hybrid knowing you might stay virtual - will child get same virtual classes they currently have? Or will that get reassigned too? That was my concern.

In-person for my kids. Honestly, DL is working well enough for us that we may ooops change our minds at the last moment, but I want to push MCPS to offer a hybrid option for the families that need it.
