Not a nanny. OP was wrong. The nanny never lied, and OP kept changing her story.

Nanny said she could use a family car to get there if need be. If she doesn't have a license how can she drive? Legally?

She could have been planning to renew her license, so at some point in the near future she would be able to drive. Or a family member could drive her.

If you need a nanny who can drive for the job, you don't ask if she has reliable transportation to work, you ask if she has a valid DL and if she is willing to use her own car for work/willing to drive whatever your nanny car is. So she didn't need to drive for the job. So that's a lie that OP added later to make herself look better.

Nanny.

Nope. Attorney. If I hire a nanny and driving will be part of her duties, you can bet I'm asking her straight-out if she has a valid DL. OP didn't do that. She asked about reliable transportation. Assuming no physical disabilities, living a mile away means that walking is reliable transportation. The car was just a backup method; if driving is part of the job, you want someone with their own car, not just a "family car" that they need someone else's permission to borrow.

And if people change their stories, or they don't add up, you can bet I think they are lying.

OP here. She did say she was going to renew it but didn’t because of the pandemic. It doesn’t matter now since we are not moving forward with her. Most of the people against me are likely nanny. The couple of responses that agree are parents.

Is you friend a Nanny? She is the first one who called you out for overreacting.

Which can be said of the nanny. She said she could drive. Period. She cannot legally drive. I don't understand what is so difficult about this. If OP wanted to shrug it off, fine. If not, as is the case, also fine. It would give me pause if someone said they could drive to my house if the technically couldn't. It speaks to character that they are fine with driving when they don't have a valid drivers license.

And she said this after you found out, not before, as I understand it. If she had said up front, my driver license is expired due to the pandemic, but will renew soon, that would be one thing. But as I understand it that isn't how it went down.

OP, I think you completely overreacted and were wrong.

However, in your mind she already broke your trust and in this job relationship trust is key. Find someone else.

Yeah, you’re way overreacting. And you sounds crazy.
Anonymous
Are you kidding me? This is a temporary nanny job with no driving required. You completely overreacted.

No, I’m not and you are crazy.

You were dead wrong. However, you made up your mind so it’s done.

What are you going to do for childcare?

Well I am a parent and think you are an idiot who is absolutely in the wrong. But sure, go ahead and assume that everyone who is against you is a nanny.

I'm the one who thinks many of the responders are nannies, and I am not the OP.

A parent who calls people idiots. Great role model.
