She could have been planning to renew her license, so at some point in the near future she would be able to drive.  Or a family member could drive her.

If you need a nanny who can drive for the job, you don't ask if she has reliable transportation to work, you ask if she has a valid DL and if she is willing to use her own car for work/willing to drive whatever your nanny car is.  So she didn't need to drive for the job.  So that's a lie that OP added later to make herself look better.  [/quote]

Nope.  Attorney.  If I hire a nanny and driving will be part of her duties, you can bet I'm asking her straight-out if she has a valid DL.  OP didn't do that.  She asked about reliable transportation.  Assuming no physical disabilities, living a mile away means that walking is reliable transportation.  The car was just a backup method; if driving is part of the job, you want someone with their own car, not just a "family car" that they need someone else's permission to borrow.

Which can be said of the nanny. She said she could drive. Period. She cannot legally drive. I don't understand what is so difficult about this. If OP wanted to shrug it off, fine. If not, as is the case, also fine. It would give me pause if someone said they could drive to my house if the technically couldn't. It speaks to character that they are fine with driving when they don't have a valid drivers license. [/quote]
