| A SYC director told a friend of ours that they will be taking BRYC’s ECNL girls spot. Is this true or is he just making up stuff to recruit in DD’s age group? |
No one said there was anything wrong with it. The only "negative" (and the reason that this thread was created) is that SYC has a well-known practice of offering players spots on a certain team and then moving them. Is that practice a bad thing? Probably not. But for every player moved up, someone has to go down or out. Letting parents know that SYC is still looking for players in these age groups is just a way for them to be informed that, whatever the coaches and directors are saying (and that what they are saying is not known), rosters are NOT settled. As far as recruiting, if a DC United scout showed up at a practice and said they were looking for kids (or a specific kid), I don't think anyone would find that odd. That's the hoped-for progression, right? But SYC. is. not. DC. United. Maybe that's how SYC views itself, but it's pretty amusing to everyone else. |
Making stuff up. |
Which one was it? |
| SYC only recently obtained the reputation of promising players spots on certain teams and moving them. Veteran SYC families are growing frustrated with the roster changes. |
| Sure, it was after the big takeover last year. But nonetheless, at the moment, it's well-deserved. |
| SYC does seem to move kids around a lot. This is anecdotal, but my kid’s team played the same SYC team last fall 3 times within a short time period: 1x during the regular season and in 2 tournaments. The players on the team were different each time. |
SYC maybe by name but those running SYC and the main coaches have been practicing this for many years. It was the case the at LMVSC. We left before they moved on to SYC but didn't expect anything different. If veteran syc families are getting frustrated why do they stick around? |
Who’s this Lula? |
LMVSC, who else? |
lol, this is the dumbest post. |
hahahahahaha, this is even dumber than other posts on this thread. ECNL doesn’t go around swapping clubs. The only way this could happen is by merging clubs. |
Maybe they gave up on ECNL and are now applying for the MLS league and Girls DA since the first is now taking spots. That's why they are recruiting, they want to be able to compete in their new league. SYC director just made a mistake on the name of the league. |
They seem like a logical applicant on the boys side, as do a few others. |
| I'm not sure why this is even a thread. The SYC crew are great recruiters. They were great recruiters at LMVSC and are doing the exact same thing at now. This has been rehashed 100 times on these boards, but benefits are lots of teams (some good, some ok, some bad) and the downside is less attention is paid to players on lower teams and their rosters are sometimes too large. Recruiting is part of the youth soccer world. You will not be rid of it anytime soon. There's enough clubs in the area that you can choose if that works for you. The coach your child will work with is more important than a freaking logo on a jersey. |
