Still can believe he cut one daughter out of his will. Clearly she was acting up because of their divorce.

He was a nasty control freak, not at all surprising.

Am I missing something? Betty still got a generous monthly allowance in spite of the vandalism and vile phone messages she left. Who in their right mind would burn her husband’s clothes and smear cake over the bed? She really had it good. It wasn’t like she was left with nothing. She could have gotten help but didn’t want it. I’m team Dan and I’m a woman.

Yes!

I was just thinking how many DCUM wives are on the verge with the stuff they post.

I think the many “Lindas” that post on there bragging about their affairs and egging them on better be careful

Interesting that she keeps being denied parole.

Because she hasn't expressed sincere remorse. Not sure I blame her. They tried to destroy her using their legal and social advantages; she felt powerless and destroyed them physically. She was the wronged party and at such a disadvantage in the financial and custody settlement. Not that I condone murder, but I can understand her feeling cornered and lashing out in the worst way possible. Especially when she was barely allowed to see her children, when at least two of them expressed a clear desire to live with her (rather than be raised by dad's housekeepers). Such a sad, toxic situation, fueled largely by the victims' callousness and lack of respect for her imo. I can understand her relief that she doesn't have to be tormented by them any longer. Too bad she didn't have the therapeutic support she needed to learn to process her hurt and anger more productively. But if nothing else, she should have given more thought to the fallout for her children.

This. Narcissistic abuse can literally drive someone mentally insane.

Yes, you're missing more than "something". You're missing a lot. Far too much to try an outline in a response here. Read the other responses and watch "Dirty John".

She ended up with something like 30K and no house for the property settlement. Does that seem equitable, in light of their joint assets? He was bringing in 100-140K/month and she received between 6 and 16K, depending. Again, equitable? Not to mention being stripped of custody.

I read he "loaned" his brother 450K and withdrew 200K from their bank account before he filed for divorce as well.

He also lied to her and told her the hearing about bifurcating the divorce and him demanding sole physical and legal custody of the kids had been postponed, when in fact, it hadn't. She didn't have an attorney at that point. She believed him and was waiting to hear when the hearing was going to be rescheduled. Meanwhile, the hearing proceeded as scheduled with all parties present except for her, and she got hosed by the judge.

Dan was a total, complete sack of narcopathic $h*t.

Dan and his mistress/child bride, who wouldn't let Betty have her bridal china when she had already purchased her own, were horrible people. They truly seemed to enjoy twisting the knife. Betty was no angel, but why torment someone so obviously suffering and unstable? She had nine pregnancies and supported him through two grad schools, devoted her entire adult life to their home and family and his career, and he couldn't be decent enough to propose an equitable settlement? Or treat her in anything resembling a decent and compassionate manner? I think all three of them were very sick people.

Is this the judge who then attended Dan's second wedding? What a piece of sh*te.

I don't understand why her parole keeps getting denied when she's served her full sentence and apparently been a model inmate who's done a lot of good in prison. Criminals with far worse records serve less than 30 years. If she's allowed out under house arrest, living with one of her children, what danger does anyone think this senior citizen would pose to society?

Yes. He skillfully used a provision in CA law that allowed to charge expenses after the date of legal separation to the community estate. So the longer he draws out the divorce proceedings and runs up expenses, the less she gets.

And there were apparently numerous cases of him telling her she could take the kids at Christmas, Easter, Halloween and then him canceling at the last minute after she had everything all prepared. Truly vile.

A lot! I wouldn’t trust her to not pull a gun on me if I pissed her off for whatever reason.

Apparently lack or remorse. And two of the children testified against her release.
