So glad that man stepped in. He actually threatened to fight her. Disgusting!

+1000. That guy seems pretty unstable, in addition to being racist--he deserves any doxxing he gets.

No evidence of instability. Why give him an excuse? He is just a raging racist who thinks he can scream at people with impunity. That is called privilege, because he can.

PP. It's not an excuse. I don't mean he's mentally ill, just that he seems irrationally angry. As soon as he yelled "You're not my mother!" I thought, this guy is losing it, lady--back away slowly. I'm black, and I've encountered quiet racism, which in some ways is worse because it's not as apparent. This guy looks likely to fly off the handle and get violent.

He was going to fight her until the man stepped in, so he is violent.

He called her a Jap and said he would drop the bomb on her... which is racist.

He is just and angry racist white dude that wants his way. It's Bethesda, it's oozing with privilege and racism.

Downtown Bethesda has a Japanese community.

We need to confront this kind of thing EVERY time it happens, just like the woman who was standing up for herself and her son as well as the man who told him to get in the car and go. The response needs to be swift and immediate.

Something similar happened to me in Bethesda (I'm a woman). I look like a Latina, but I'm not. I was in a crowded garage downtown Bethesda and pulled into a parking space. A man who thought the same space belonged to him although there was no physical way for him to pull into that space started SCREAMING at me, cursing, gesturing, signaling that he is going to get out of his car to attack me physically. Another man spetted in and told the guy to get in the car and leave. It was immediately done.

Two things, piss me off about both incidents. The racial component, but also men attacking women thinking that we will just back down. However, these p8ssies back down really fast when a man steps in because, as predicted, they are not brave or dangerous at all.

But she’s not even a part of it. She said that she was not in fact Japanese contrary to his racist claims.

Interesting that when the man walked up, he suddenly lost his desire to fight.

What a POS

POS, sure. But it didn't really look like he had any intention of fighting. He said do you want to fight and took a step or two out of his car, but it looked like he stopped before the other person got involved. While one can never know how it would have played out, it did not seem like a situation where there was going to be an actual physical altercation.

What should the response be? Public outcry/shaming? Him losing his job? Criminal charges? Something else.

All of the above. Laws need to be updated to include punishment for this kind of behavior.

But just like the bystanders did here, film it and publically shame these racist morons.

Disgusting.

Someone send this to Popville. Track this piece of crap down. He shouldn't be hard to find. Sounds like he's drinking 6 cans a day and smoking even more.

The first thing is “f with me, you’re dead” so that could perhaps constitute a threat?

Given the number of broad daylight shootings to cover in Popville's main territory of interest, I'm not sure a racist rant in Bethesda is going to really resonate.

I know, I am saying that Bethesda is not oozing racism. I am Asian and live in a SFH on the edge of downtown Bethesda, and my neighbors hail from France, Finland, Turkey, Ecuador, Japan, Russia, etc...
It’s a very multicultural place, so there isn’t the type of white American privilege and racism you’re thinking of.

Just because a location isn't all white doesn't mean it isn't oozing racism. Just do a quick google of Whitman racial incidents. Not good.

Thankfully we have the 1st amendment to override such laws, if they were to be passed. The government doesn't need to be policing speech, no matter how idiotic it is.

He might be connected to the disturbing number of white supremacists popping up in this area. Richard Spencer lived in Arlington until they drove him out. And I remember maybe 2 years ago - police finishing a whole house filled with guns and supremacist literature in Bloomingdale. Can't remember the owner's name but it was some bum living with his mom.

Right? I mean, NYC is "very multicultural," and yet, as recent events show, you have tons of racism there.
