How soon is too soon to mow the lawn, on a quarantine Sunday?

Our neighbor's lawn service showed up at 7:30 Saturday morning. And then when I told DH I was going to mow the lawn at 11am, he thought that might be too early.

Why don’t people mow the lawn on a weeknight instead of ruining the peace and quiet for everyone in the neighborhood on a weekend?

We have no time during the week to mow lawns. Between work, getting my son to do his schoolwork, dinner, etc, the day is over. Plus, you may think weekdays are better but as someone who works from home and prefers to work outside on the porch, I would prefer people wait to mow until the weekend. I would never ask them to but do not assume your preference is everyone else’s.

I would never mow at 7 am though.

I actually went out at 9:45, since the drizzle started. Wrapped up just after 10. Given the circumstances, I feel no guilt.

I would love to live in neighborhood where lawn work like mowing and leaf blowing were banned on Sundays. Just one day of peace in a week.

+ 1 People are already on edge, do you really want to get in a fight with your neighbors about this?

9AM

10AM would be even better. But 9 is acceptable and no one can really fault you.

This thread is making me laugh. I grew up in a very rural area and we had a huge yard. So many weekend mornings I'd be woken by the sound of my parents out mowing the lawn. Then when I got a little older they'd wake me up to do it!

My neighbors would never get upset about something like this. It’s like the lawn olympics here - whose can look the best.

My old town illegal to mow lawn or use any power tools inside or outside house on weekends Memorial Day to Labor Day.

Tax paying folks trying to enjoy yards don’t need the noise

You are the worst.
Correct.

Hell is morning people with lawnmowers.

(I say 10 as a general practice, but 9 is OK on occasion if it's about to rain)

Ugh my toddlers don’t even wake until 8 and I worked so hard to get them there. I’d be pissed if you woke us all at 7

I don’t get this - what are people who work supposed to do? And what do taxes have to do with it? You think people who mow on weekends don’t pay taxes?
