I rarely eat dessert and when I do I plan ahead and budget it in by eating less or adding a workout.
I’m still on my weightloss journey, but I find most desserts aren’t worth the calorie cost. I save my calories for good cheese and wine. |

I usually have some form of dessert when I am dieting. Usually will consist of berries and whipped cream or greek yogurt, sometimes 2 small cookies or square of dark chocolate or small amount of ice cream.
My go to lately has been vanilla greek yogurt with ground flax seed mixed in with berries. Truly indulgent desserts like pies, cupcakes, etc maybe once a month if that. |
How often are you working out to do this? Let me guess, female pre kids or male? |
Nope. I’m 53 years old. Female. 5’5. Between 115 and 120 pounds. I have five children, all older. I do workout every day. But I’m also just active. I hike, sail, garden, and play. I am one of those people who is always moving. Life is too short to skip dessert. |

I have a lunch dessert and a dinner dessert. Both are typically portion controlled. Lunch dessert is typically some sort of hostess snack cake, usually a snowball. (170 calories). They are satisfying enough that I don't crave more sweets afterward. Dinner dessert is generally whatever my daughter and I decide it is - pie, cookies, ice cream, microwave s'mores.
I love dessert. Sweets make me happy. I'm 48, work out daily (generally more than once) and am 5'8" and 148ish. |
| In my 50s, busy mother, 5'10", currently 128 lbs. I have always enjoyed my sweets, including daily dessert after dinner. Yesterday I had an entire Lindt dark chocolate candy bar, two medium coffee lattes, and a brownie ice cream sundae with whipped cream and caramel sauce. This is typical of my daily sugar intake. However I rarely drink alcohol, never drink colas, rarely drink fruit juices, do drink ridiculous amounts of water, otherwise enjoy a fairly healthy diet, and exercise daily. |
| ^^^ I forgot to mention the shortbread cookie and peanut butter oatmeal bar that I also had yesterrday. |
