Lat and Shemtob have a 2½-year-old son, said Shemtob, who is 36.

One of the toughest parts of Lat’s illness, said Shemtob, is that he and Lat’s other family are not allowed to come to the hospital. Because of the transmittable virus, they can’t be with Lat as he continues to struggle with the illness.

Shemtob also tested positive for it and is recovering without intervention. So crazy how the cards fall.

Yes, Lat posted that early on, it was a mild cold for Shemtob. If anyone has asthma, they need to basically quarantine since it is a known risk factor for severe Covid19. Hooping for the best outcome for Lat.

Trump just threw off the FDA albatross backlog stopping the medication combos from getting to patients here in the US, according to Cuomo. They will start trials Tuesday.

Whoever is a family member/friend of Lat should DEMAND he receive this therapy NOW.

FDA and CDC are huge federal problems, blocking treatment from critically ill patients.

This article says that he has been placed on a z pack and an anti malarial drug. Isn’t that what the entire internet is bashing Trump for saying shows promise in treatment? If the doctors at NYU are using it, it must be for a reason.

Good. I was just posting that the FDA had been blocking this and that Trump told them to stop and made them stop. I'm glad that he's receiving this therapy.

But look - how did this actor get it early on?

He already is. Read better.

And slow down, we have the (unfortunately currently underfunded and understaffed) FDA and CDC for a reason.

Maybe when this is over, we'll value our government more.

But it does make a difference! Asthma is a lung/breathing issue . This virus attacks this whole system so people with asthma, people who smoke, old people and very overweight people are at much higher risk of dying. Why do you think people in the most severe cases are having to go on ventilators? My 50 yr old uncle died a few yrs ago from Legionnaires disease he contracted in Germany. He had asthma and was a smoker.

stop it stop it stop it! you are so desperate to prove it can't happen to you.

NP. I don’t think anyone is saying it can’t happen to folks without preexisting conditions.

But that doesn’t change that asthma is absolutely a preexisting condition and the fact that he was able to run marathons doesn’t change that.

In fact, I think there is some theory that those who have extraordinary lung capacity (marathoners, athletes, etc.) may have systems that go into 'overdrive" to attack the virus (which leads to a system overload and critical condition).

Who knows.

At the end of the day, non of us are immune and we can't keep looking for reasons why the unlucky victims are 'other.' This could hit any of us. Good luck to him and all who are infected.

My husband is a long-distance biker. He has a sore throat but of course went out on his bike ride because 'gotta bike gotta bike gotta bike'. Who knows how he'll fare. I gave him some cold-ease and vitamin c and got that 'you're crazy' look.

Should be fun times.

So this is the issue with The 24/7 media cycle. If you read his twitter feed, he was given the z pack before being tested for covid. The article lumps it all together.

Yup, I saw that.

I see, it's all Trump's fault

No. This is false. You are terribly misinformed or purposely posting things that are misleading and inaccurate.

They've been underfunded for decades.

Maybe we'll value our government, but maybe we won't.

To be clear he said it was a mild flu, not a mild cold.

Big caveat: #coronavirus manifests itself in very different ways. Some folks get very sick, like me, and require hospitalization; some have something akin to a low-level flu (my husband Z.); some are asymptomatic. So, #YMMV. #LatsCovid19Journal

People on this regimen need to be closely monitored because it can affect your heart rhythm.

https://twitter.com/EdselSalvana/status/1241287878354677760?s=20

Please don't take hydroxychloroquine (Plaquenil) plus Azithromycin for #COVID19 UNLESS your doctor prescribes it. Both drugs affect the QT interval of your heart and can lead to arrhythmias and sudden death, especially if you are taking other meds or have a heart condition.

There are instances in which doctors may use either or both in CONFIRMED COVID infection, but for compassionate use through a carefully monitored process.
There is data it MIGHT work but it is very early. DO NOT take ANY drug unless an MD prescribes it and monitors you closely.

Cuomo just SAID IT MORON!

BREAKING: Gov. Cuomo says New York will start implementing the trial drugs to treat Coronavirus and that they have acquired 70,000 Hydroxychloroquine, 10,000 Zithromax, and 750,000 Chloroquine from the Federal Government.

Trials to start Tuesday.
