The airline made me do it!

Pathetic.

I fully agree with the PP. The seats recline. If the airline isn't providing enough space to recline without infringing on the next passenger, they need to fix it and stop framing it as an etiquette problem. It's a design problem because they are cramming us in like sardines to maximize profits.

Everyone needs to seriously stop blaming the airlines. Just check out the income statement and balance sheet of almost any US airline. They are not raking in the money! Nobody wants to enter this crappy business. THe reality is that the business has expanded so much that now poor people are a huge part of the customer base. People don't want to pay more than $200 for a domestic plane ticket. And sorry, that doesn't pay the bills. The seats have been getting more cramped because of this. If you don't like it, fly business. When people start paying more money for bigger seats, the supply of seats on planes will shift to bigger seats. It's like saying why are their no flip phones anymore. Because nobody bought them! "It's an evil scheme!" lol

Total B.S. If they offered a better product, we'd pay more. Jet Blue is a great example with their tv monitors. It's a superior experience and proves the mold can be broken. We all pay more than $200 bucks because they nickel and dime us on anything. I would happily fly any disruptor. They have captive (literally and figuratively) and most of us would desperately flock to a better option.

Well, that's you. I can tell you that most people I know absolutely would not and instead are flocking to the bottom of the barrel such as Spirit airlines. Did you see the post like three before yours where the woman didn't buy her child its own seat and instead decided to come here and complain about someone reclining? So, clearly, no, a substantial portion of the population would not happily pay more for better seats. This is also evidenced by numerous open business/first class seats that get filled by "free upgrades" of frequent flyers. I often see them half empty before upgrades. So, flock to business class if you're so concerned

I had a lap baby who needed to be breastfed and the person in front of me reclined their seat fully. There was LITERALLY nowhere for the baby to go. I remember at one point thinking that maybe I could hold her over my head. Design flaw? Or massively inconsiderate? You decide. This was before 911 and I spent most of the flight standing in the aisle with my baby so Mr. Entitled could have his little nap.

YOu should have purchased a seat for your child, as I have done many times on international flights.

She should buy a seat instead of have a lap baby (which she is entitled to have), so the guy can recline his seat without consideration (which he is entitled to do)?

What a hypocrite you are!

That is correct. That is what she should do.

His right does not Trump her right. Pretty revealing how the a**hole man wins in your scenario.

They are both jerks. He should have asked her politely to move her seat up a bit - it was hitting his knees. She could have taken the hint and moved her seat up a little to give him more room.

It's not that hard.

When you choose a lap baby, you know that you will be cramped and inconvenienced the entire flight. I have flown with and without babies, both lap and with their own seat.

“It was scary and very painful” she said, claiming she lost time at work, had to receive X-rays and suffered headaches because of the incident.

“I’m in pain. I have 1 cervical disk left that isn’t fused – the first 1 which allows me some mobility. It’s scary bc it’s this the kind of injury that could do it in,” she said.

“I am grateful for the limited movement I still have and shouldn’t have had to endure the repeated blows.”

Seriously? This sounds like "pay me" scheme. She makes it sound like the guy beat the shit of her in a dark alley. She is clearly after money from the airline

Is this a Gloria Gaynor reference?

At first, I was afraid, I was petrified
Kept thinking, I could never live without you by my side
But then I spent so many nights thinking, how you did me wrong
And I grew strong and I learned how to get along

WTF?

Exactly. And the man wasn't an a**hole; the entitled woman obviously is, though.

He never asked her to not recline her seat
Therefore he was in the wrong

There was a long thread on here not long ago and about 90% of posters were completely anti-recline. They were very angry about anyone who reclines a seat.

Based on that thread I am surprised to see so few anti-recliners in this thread.

I'm going to start a new thread about how all passengers around me should decline their airplane meal on long flights because it grosses me out. It smells bad and makes me nauseous. Therefore, all passengers should refrain from eating the meal that is offered when I'm sitting near them. Obviously I'm being sarcastic, but this is literally the same logic of anti-recliners.

Team guy. Recliners are the same type of people who bring their "emotional support animals" or pets with them on airplanes.

He objected pretty much as soon as she did it though - it's not clear if he said something first and she ignored him or what happened. It's not like she was unaware that he was being bothered by it. She could have lifted the seat up a little as a compromise. They were both jerks.

So the reclining man’s comfort and convenience is more important than the woman’s comfort and convenience, when they are both doing what they are allowed to do?

Hypocrite.

We have a lot of enlisted folks these days getting assigned to Europe and Asia. SOme of them make around 30K a year. THey don't "choose" to have a lap baby, nor do they "choose" to move their families to Asia. Your comments show how incredibly privileged you are.

Then blame the military for keeping you in poverty.
