At any rate, the person who took the video, the person who tased, and the person(s) who restrained should all be expelled from FCPS and criminally charged. Bystanders should be assessed on a case by case basis.

There should have been communication from the school to all students and parents the day in happened. I do not trust the school to handle this situation with a focus on protecting the victim.

Event occurred last Thursday. No school Monday and Tuesday. Student reported to school Wednesday. School parents notified Wednesday.

Before noon on Thursday, right?

That I don't know. We received email from the school about 4pm. News outlets were at the school during dismissal at 3pm.

How tf did no one in that room report this immediately after happened? Then it spread on social media and still no one reported it. They left it up to the victim to come forward, shame on all the students who saw the video and did nothing. A truly cowardly despicable act, made worse by all the bystanders who did nothing, and the staff who are taking their sweet time to notify and investigate. It’s a new principal but I do not trust this school after what happened to the girl assaulted on the band trip.

The school notified parents AFTER a news crew showed up on their doorstep.

I’m not understanding your post. Do rules allow punishment for attacking another student with a taser? What do you think? And what rehabilitation do you suggest? At the very least, the victim should not have to fear for his safety at the hands of these kids. They should be expelled and sent to another school, or first juvie.

great. they can end up in someone else's school and do the same type of cr*p

Somewhere between expulsion and “let’s talk it out” probably lies the right disciplinary response, at least for first-time offenders.

But it certainly looks like a case of assault on a child who emphatically did not want to be assaulted.

No. This is malicious and extremely traumatizing to the person who was attacked and powerless.... and made 1000 times worse by the fact that the video was publicized and his powerlessness was seen by so many.

If this isn't a case for expulsion, I don't know what is. This victim could have been seriously injured or killed -- electricity can stop a heart. This is no joke.

I hope heads roll (figuratively).

Exactly. That was stated in the news story on channel 4. The school admins knew and decided to enjoy their 4 day weekend rather than address this issue. Pathetic.

+1 I so feel for that poor kid. What an awful and traumatic thing to have happen, and to know that people videotaped it and shared it for the amusement of other kids is sickening.

+1

I hope the victim's parents sue the crap out of the perpetrators'/their parents --- that's the only time people take things seriously... when they have to pay serious money. Talk about intentional infliction of emotional distress (re: video) and actual assault that could have resulted in death. This is serious. Hope that victim ends up laughing ALL THE WAY TO THE BANK.

When was the band incident? Any details of what happened?

What if they tased him in the chest and he went into cardiac arrest?

It’s attempted murder. How does one even get a taser?

Any chance this is fake? Like the students set it up ?

Stun guns cost $20 at Walmart.

If it was a bunch of students who just agreed to go after each other, it seems unlikely the student in the video would have reported it to the SRO.

It's horrible-- my kid already has social anxiety and ADHD--if a group of kids did something like that to him, it would cause immense trauma and emotional damage.
These kids don't know what other kids are going through- physically bullying and attacking a child like that could lead to suicide or ptsd. Awful.

It sounds like the administrators found out Wed (yesterday), I don’t think they knew last week.
