Is anyone else turned off by Demi Moore's tell all book?

Why are we comparing JLo to Demi? I’m tired of both.

I find what I’ve read about her memoir to be pretty interesting actually and welcome it. I don’t see it through the lens of faded star slipping Hollywood gossip. I see it as a story about how childhood abuse, especially child sex abuse, parental neglect, life with addict/mentally ill parent, and other traumas have far-reaching repercussions that fame, beauty and wealth can’t fix.
I am also a sex abuse and trauma survivor, also with abusive/mentally ill mom, but unlike Demi, I got excellent psych treatment early on. I can absolutely see how my life could have looked like Demi’s at 50 (albeit a less rich and glam version) without it.

I agree. There's nothing wrong with a memoir, unless she's lying but I don't think she is.

Agree. I don't know why everyone is putting her down for doing this. If anything, blame the publisher who bought it! They're the real money grubbers. They could've said no, and helped protect her.

Umm what? She's a sixty-year-old with grown children, been married twice, and money in her name. Why does she need protecting?

Married three times.

I think she is 56-57

That makes her around 60. Let's not split hairs.

Remember when Kelso played with like five dogs and then made out with Jackie without washing his hands.....says it all!

Ashton probably wanted everyone to think he left because of her dependence issues but it sounds like he was a pretty bad actor in the marriage. Too bad it will reflect badly on him and expose his prediliction for alternative lifestyles.

She was a 40-year-old alcoholic who hooked up with a 27 year old. What did she think would happen?

Ashton is the same age now that she was when they married. Except he is a lot more settled and successful.

I agree with the bolded. She already had the whole marriage and kids thing. It wasn't very mature to think a 27 year old wouldn't one day want that for himself too. Then he grew up and did. I feel bad for her, and she's certainly entitled to her pain, but she wasn't looking at this from a very reasonable perspective. It's great that Bruce is there for her, but I can see how Ashton wouldn't after she made a huge public deal about being devastated and victimized when he left. It looks like he's doing the right thing by keeping things professional but not too close. It wouldn't be kind to get too close to her. She needs to heal and move on.

It's sad because she obviously had a horrible childhood full of abuse and neglect. I hope she finds a way to make peace for herself.

I haven't read her "tell all" and, tbh, I am not interested in reading. If she is now claiming that Ashton was a bad husband that is rich. Demi always had the upper hand in that relationship - she was leading that kid around by the nose. She was with him because he made her look and feel young and like she still had it going on, it was ALL about her.

She was VERY high maintenance. Honestly, I think Bruce was a saint for putting up with her BS. I'm glad both men have moved on to happier lives.

I am really enjoying the book. I was never a huge Demi fan but find her story really interesting.

She came from such tough circumstances and made the best of her situation by building an acting career. She had so much chaos and instability in her childhood, then to go to Hollywood, it's no wonder she struggled with addiction and eating disorders.

I have zero sympathy for Ashton. While of course it was crazy for her at 40 to have anything other than a short fling with someone so young, he got a lot of PR and a big boost to his career from their marriage. So I don't feel bad he's had to face the other side of that. And no one is surprised that he cheated....not really news that was kept quiet in the days of perez hilton and celeb gossip.

I think we should remember that Demi has always been a feminist and has pushed a lot of boundaries for women, in a positive way.

In some ways she did push the boundaries, I suppose in some form for other women. I have just always been turned off by her intense focus on the body and sexualizing herself in such boundary-less ways. Now that I understand her history....that she was sexually abused (and her mother apparently allowed men access which is revolting) I feel great empathy for her. Like another poster said, I hope she continues to heal. She is a person who admits she felt she had nothing to lose and that is very sad

Did those of you turned off now also say the same thing when Rob Lowe or any number of male celebrities published similar stories? Doubt it.

Well, kinda.

Rob Lowe was a train wreck...but he somehow managed to settle down, stay married to the same lady, and raise normal kids. Can’t say the same for Demi.

What other women other than herself has she always been about ?? What young actress did she mentor ,showed the ropes of the industry and acted as a protector of? You're peddling a reality that's diametrically opposed to the reality . So typical .

I always thought that Ashton was a cool guy.

Personable, kind & overall decent.

But now knowing his true colors - - I am no longer a fan.
Poor Mila.
She married a cheater.
Once she loses her looks, it will only be a matter of time before Ashton publicly humiliates her the same way he did to Demi.
