You people need to stop focusing on weight and focus on fitness.

I've been posting this forever, but everyone is, no it is diet, diet, diet. What bunch of crap! Walking, walking, walking, and being active makes a difference. Plus, you can't eat while you are walking(well, you can but you likely won't). DD is at a large campus now, she has that apple watch and she has been walking between 15K 20K steps each day, and takes stairs to her third floor dorm room, only stairs all the time. She is eating whatever she wants and losing weight! So much that I am kind of worried.

I could lose more if I stayed stricter about eating less in my eating window, but my goal was really just to fit back into my clothes that are one size down. And not drive myself crazy, I'm too old for too much effort!

When I first started, I was good about just eating lunch, one snack, and normal dinner. But now in maintenance I eat more than that, like sometimes having dessert after dinner if time allows, more little snacking during the day. I'm hoping my cholesterol has gone down, that's my only health issue (BP is good, thyroid is good).

Which IF are you using. Do you eat anything at all in 36 hours? I try it and results are great, but can't stick to it.

I'm doing the 16:8. So I only eat between the hours of noon to 8pm. Some mornings are rough, but I try to keep myself busy and drink a lot of water (I'm not a coffee drinker). But I like it because it allows me to eat our regular dinner with the family every night.

Is your DD at the large campus over 50? Things are a LOT different than when you're a relative kid and at the height of your great metabolism...

And she’s much younger! Can’t even compare that to someone who’s in their 50’s, thyroid issues, and menopause.

I am also on antidepressants that make me gain weight and have wondered if it is EVEN possible to lose any weight while on them!

I lost 30 lbs on WW last year when I was 55 years old. I started drinking a little, and then my dad died and I ate a lot more crap. So I have gained back 14. Going back on it now.

I'm 53. I started doing Keto in October 2018. In January 2019, after I had already lost 30 pounds I threw in some intermittent fasting - one 36 hour fast a week (Sunday night - Tuesday morning) plus 16 hour fasts Wed-Fri (evening 7pm - 11am). I lost 20 more pounds by April. That is when I began exercising.

I have kept the weight off since April and am maintaining now which is WAY easier than losing weight. I eat more calories and enjoy alcohol on the weekends. Soon I'll be gearing up to take another 10 or 15 off.

In spite of the reputation that Keto has for being a fatty bacon and butter type diet, I find myself eating pretty healthy. Tonight I'm having brussels sprouts and grilled pork loin. Yesterday I had sauteed chicken breast and spinach salad for dinner.

The 36 hour fast that I do might seem sort of extreme but if it allows me to have wine and extra calories on the weekends it is worth it to me. So far so good.

36 hour fast is OK. It makes me feel good ... no stomach issues when stomach isn't working.

I'm lucky that I really don't have any significant aches or pains at the age of 53. If I eat too many starchy/sugary carbs I'll get heartburn but I haven't even had heartburn since starting Keto and IF. I don't feel like a kid every day but there are some days when I really do feel much younger than I am - boundless energy, body/mind feel great especially after a 36 hour fast.

When I was 45/50 pounds heavier and my diet was not the best my knees and feet could get sore if I walked too much in a day. Now I can walk all over a small city in sandals. It is like turning back the clock.

I'm 49. Have lost 30 lbs in 5 months with intermittent fasting and peloton. It is hard but once I got some momentum it got easier (2-3 weeks in).
