Yep, even before the Academy he handled the Super Y work. And he is a solid futsal coach as well, Futsal is a highly technical game, so non-technical coaches and non-technical players tend to struggle more than they might outside.

Well, there you have it

However, since the Oracle is here to keep us all on track, by what basis do you say either of those statements aren't true? Is he not into futsal? Has he not been with Spirit long before DA? Or are you just being derogatory because you think Spirit is easy prey?

Being optimistic in life is a good thing. However, being optimistic with your time and money on an underperforming stock may lead to severe frustration. Starting to feel like WS VA DA is a pump and dump stock.

They're running the Academy like its Super Y.

You are not in Spirit. They are nothing alike and have not be run alike. That's just an uninformed comment - maybe to go after George? He did do Super Y, but he didn't ONLY do Super Y. It is underperformed. I agree. It has to and can do better if it doesn't lose its better players over some roster mistakes. But it doesn't run it like Super Y. That's laughable.

Underperformed, yes. Too many players, some players that should never have been picked up and everyone should be played correctly - the way any other club would in the entire country. Spirit will have to start winning. One more year like the last two were run will destroy it. Trying hard won't be enough any more. You either can or you can't. A goalie who can't make basic saves won't see the same amount of time and certainly won't play up. A defender who can't make basic defensive wins and tackles won't be good enough or certainly be considered for playing up. A midfielder who can't handle basic 1v1s, connect passes, and gets pushed off the ball won't be good enough. A forward who can't score won't be given an A for effort.

OR, Spirit dodged a bullet. Next year, they need to close its doors. It has to start winning, and players who can't do that shouldn't be on the field. You will get no argument from me.

There is one 07 on the 06 team.

George is doing a great job! Clearly this is true because the program is really doing great.

Untrue-there are currently 2 07's (one PT) and one 08 (who is very good).

It is very true that the current 06 team definitely needs an influx of talent and at this point it is unclear if that will materialize. It has not so far at ID sessions.

Ok, that doesn't sound like they "had to fill the team with a bunch of 2007 players" is particularly accurate. To me a bunch is more like 4-6?

All of this discussion by rumor is funny for DA. Go to the source. Here is an example recent game report:

http://www.ussoccerda.com/sam/standings/ss/view_game_report.php?eventId=5899185&teamId=8242788

Roster shows 5 2007 players, though one left the team and one plays up regularly.

Also note the score, which shows this team can compete, given the right set of circumstances.

Here we go again, deleting comments if it doesnt fit the narrative. This board has become shameful in the censorship for no apparent reason.

Is this a discussion board or digital billboard for recruiting?

I want to see the 06 team succeed, but what set of circumstances have those been? One game against Penn Fusion? They regular lose by 7, 8, 9, sometimes double digit goals. I think it's a pilot program with a team that Spirit started very late recruiting, so I'm not pinging fingers. At the same time, I don't think we should pretend like the current group of players - by some reason or another - isn't struggling. It is. They did lose a goalie, but they had large goal differentials before that.

So that team needs a dramatic reorganization, talent pool adjustment, age ready players or something. It's a shame Tom didn't pick up that team. It certainly needs his attention.

George and Spencer too to be fair have picked up a lot of extra responsibility over the spring, and this winter was the start of a futsal program at Spirit. So if we are fair, they've been stepping forward for what, 3 months? 4? I'm not ready to toss the baby out with the bath water.

That team needs 3-4 talented 2006s which would make it more even with the competition in the division. It’s hard to compete when the clown car subs for the other team are almost as good as the starters yet your team has hardly a bench. Even putting the one playup out of the group back with the 2006s would help substantially. The team played fairly well at CASL as well, even with the current roster as it is. So let’s not pretend that there aren’t any solid players on the team. They need a few more.

Go to BRYC or McLean and save the headache. They have proven themselves worthy

That game report includes an 07 girl who hasn't been on the team since September and on 07 girl that actually plays up on the 05s (or 04s). PP was accurate. There is currently 1 full-time 07 on the roster, 1 part-time 07 on the roster and 1 full-time 08 on the roster. In fact, on that game report there are 2 names that have not been part of the team at all since December and 7 additional names that have never played for the team in the fall or spring. I don't even recognize about 5 of these names. Part of the issue with the current roster is that they only have 12-14 girls who attend games regularly. It is the complete opposite of what folks say about WSVA re: bloated rosters. The 06 team needs about an influx of talent--there is no debating that point. Sharing the facts.

If you aren't a parent on the team, you have no clue.

Perhaps you should stop make trolling comments that focus on tearing down others.

Please re-read this post, as it was completely accurate and takes into account the movement you mentioned (one girl left, another plays up):
