They expanded the scope of the study from Northwest, Seneca Valley, and Clarksburg High Schools, plus Seneca Valley's middle schools, to Northwest, Seneca Valley, and Clarksburg High Schools, plus Northwest, Seneca Valley, and Clarksburg High School's middle schools. A very reasonable and non-radical step.

It's about 2.3 miles from Kensington Parkwood ES to Einstein, and 2.4 miles from Kensington Parkwood ES to Walter Johnson HS.

Aside from the Kensington Parkwood ES island on Old Georgetown Rd and Tuckerman (which will be in walking distance of Woodward), most of the Kensington Parkwood ES service area is closer to Einstein than to Walter Johnson. I thought that people want their closest school.

Write to the BOE, attend meetings, fill out the survey, oppose option #4. This is not an obscure upcounty issue. This is a preview what is on the table in 2-3 years for downcounty.

You are right, SVHS is barely West of 270, but 270 also swings much further away from the Potomac River up there. And your analogy re: Carderock is is much better, too. I am sure it gives zero consolation to NBMS parents.

Now, would people in Bethesda/Potomac please imagine the possible scenarios and start mobilizing, along with people in Rockville who would be screwed since they are all on some boundary of inequity? We need to have people attend BOE meetings, run and support candidates, and generally be involved. The only people signing up to speak at the BOE meetings are the Social Equity Fraction. We need to start putting on pressure and have representation.

More civic involvement is always good, but I'm tickled by the idea that a boundary study involving 3 high schools and 6,000 high school students as "an obscure upcounty issue" in the first place. The Unity boundary study was an obscure upcounty issue. This isn't.
