When are Woodward boundaries going to be decided?

A lot of misinformation in this post. Kensington Parkwood ES is zoned for North Bethesda MS. Also, the disparity in Kensington is due to one area being zoned for WJ (GS 9 score) and one area being zoned for Einstein (GS 5). If Kensington Parkwood gets rezoned to Woodward, I’m guessing Woodward will be at least a GS 7, if not higher.

KP should go to HS which is less than mile from KP. Neighborhood schools should be made as much a possible and in this case putting KP in Einstein will achieve balancing geography, demography and capacity. It's a logical step. KP shouldn't be part of either WJ or Woodward. Einstein is right next to KP.

It’s actually not. Kensington-Parkwood elementary is almost as close to WJ as it is to Einstein (both are around 2.5 miles away). And if you put Kensington-Parkwood into Einstein which schools from Einstein would go to WJ or Woodward? Rock View ES is in Einstein’s zone so it’s not going. And schools like Highland and Oakland Terrace are almost 5 miles away from WJ and Woodward. That is going to be a hell of a ride for kids in rush hour traffic.

KP ES to WJ - shortest distance is 3.8 Miles.

KP ES to Einstein - 2.5 miles

You know people have this thing called Google Maps right?

Kensington-Parkwood to Walter Johnson is 2.4 miles, according to Google Maps. You go on Beach Drive to Grosvenor Lane to Old Georgetown Road. The shortest route from Kensington-Parkwood to Einstein is 2.5 miles, which is longer.

And, again, the closest ESs in the Einstein zone to WJ or Woodward, which isn't Rock View (the zone for which contains Einstein), are twice as far to WJ or Woodward as KP is to Einstein. Oakland Terrace is 5.3 miles (on the Beltway no less) to WJ and 4.4 to Woodward, and Highland Elementary is 5.6 miles from WJ and 4.7 miles from Woodward.

I am not the PP, but anything within 4-5 miles is close enough for a HS. Balancing demography has more weight than anything else in boundary decisions going forward.

Well, in "balancing demography" they are going to make Einstein much, much whiter than it is because they are going to have to zone out kids from either Highland, Oakland Terrace or Rock View from Einstein and these are the schools with the highest minority populations.

Once consultant puts his report, CIP for next year can always have section to include B-CC in Woodward. If not next year then next to next year.

Einstein will look different. KP parents shouldn't be assuming that Einstein will look same. Only thing guaranteed will be a step down from current WJ and step up from current Einstein. Where exactly, no one knows right now.

Yes...any number of plans may be included in future CIPs. But until they are, people are just making stuff up.

NO boundaries are subject to change with the county-wide boundary analysis. None.

In terms of the process, a Request for Proposals will be issued to select external consultants to conduct this analysis. The consultants’ review is not a boundary study for specific school assignment changes. The consultants will issue the final report of findings and options to the Board in spring 2020. Following receipt of the consultants’ analysis, the Board will determine any next steps. Any potential future process would continue to be based on the four factors established in Board Policy FAA, Educational Facilities Planning, for consideration in determining boundaries for student assignment.
