08 Girls

Only Loudoun is good depending where you live. Arlington isn't what they were, lost badly at Jefferson Cup and ASIST to Loudoun. And Mclean from Insww online lost their own tournament to LMVSC which is a bottom CCL team so idk how that happened. Best one in the area is Loudoun hands down. Second MAYBE FCV

Arlington played some of the best teams in the country at Jeff which is why they did not perform. If you read some players were injured during game so not a 100% team.

Have a DD in 2008 and this is my opinion based on watching a few games

Loudoun
Arlington
McLean - although rumor is they lost 3 players this spring
PWSI and FCV (tie)
BRYC
GFR Spirit

Do any of the girls on the team actually want to be competing? Or are they all stuck fulfilling the dreams of their unfulfilled parents?

This has to be a joke? GFR spirit? Your DD must play from one the bottom 4. Yes Loudoun has a strong team for future ECNL, and Arlington is next. None of those other teams are worth mentioning not even Mclean those days are gone. PWSI keeps being thrown around I noticed on DCUM but has anyone actually seen the schedule? They been playing teams such as CYA? BRYC is done do they actually do tournaments?

I love posts like this. The folks who write these tired tropes always come off as if they expect the internet to simultaneously "slow clap" their way to an ovation like the whole school does in a teen movie when the Cool High School kid is revealed to be the shallow bully they are.

SYC has a strong team

Reading some of these posts I have to laugh. McLean is at least 2nd. Completely laughable to put them under 2nd.

Don’t underestimate the GFR Spirit team. They are very good. Loudon is the best, Arlington also very strong. McLean is lower in the list.

I see that they lost to Loudoun Red last weekend and also lost all 3 games at Jeff Cup this weekend. Loudoun won their first 2 before losing. Both teams in top bracket. Is there something going on with the Arlington team to explain these results? Was considering having DD tryout with Arlington 2008 this spring for next year because want her to play with high caliber team and everyone has been telling us they are considered the "team to beat" in the DMV. Loudoun is slightly closer. Anyone familiar with these 2 teams have any insight? Please only respond if you have actual information. Not interested in speculation. Any info on other 2008 teams that may be relevant welcome.

The geographic distance and traffic in the area makes it very difficult for both clubs to be considered simultaneously. It really will depend upon where you end up living which club is more seriously considered above the other. And in all honesty, there is not enough real separation between the two teams to warrant fighting traffic for either team and certainly not at this age.

Neither club has a track record in national level leagues and college placement that demonstrates a successful history of development and college placement. But yes they win at young ages.

It really depends where you live, if you live closer to Loudon, then pick either Loudon, FCV, Barca, etc. all good clubs with good training.

If people keep throwing PWSI in they must be decent. Maybe it’s the VDA link? BRYC is top 3. ARLINGTON is overrated.

Have seen a lot of this age group. PWSI is very good. I'd argue they'd compete well at the top though they haven't played those teams to my knowledge. FCV is not super strong at 08. GFR-Spirit just won their bracket (one of the low ones, but higher than FCV) at Jeff Cup, beating Beach FC which is historically pretty strong in NPL. Loudoun definitely up top along with Arlington (don't let losses in top tournament brackets fool you). LMVSC is actually decent. Also VSA -- their 08 team played up 07 in many recent tournaments over the past 18 months.

Thanks for the feedback, GFR parent.
