Private & Independent Schools
That's where you are wrong. |
Prep absolutely does not do this with their camps. Can’t speak for others. The Bullis note was really bad. A lot of people were talking about it. Feel free to disregard this but it just screamed of desperation. And I’m not the earlier poster. |

I am in the Landon camp, and Bullis is pretty low on my list of these schools. That said, i see nothing wrong or desperate or hinting at auto admission in the Bullis letter. Just reads like good marketing - something most of these schools can benefit from. The current super high tuitions of these schools are narrowing the field of applicant families who can pay full boat; that makes intelligent marketing all the more important.

| Barrie Camp solicited applications, too. I figured it made sense and was common practice. |
Agreed! |
There are personal issues that are coming through in these opinions on the DCUM, clearly. I would say almost nobody makes such important decisions based on anonymous opinions online. Those of us with kids at Bullis or who have kids who will be attending have our eyes wide open. People love to wave the Niche and Great Schools rankings around - except those for Bullis (#8 for 2019), which obviously must be wildly inaccurate. The college acceptance list is stellar and public for all to see. The facilities are unrivaled. Yet, the school is a “joke,” “useless,” you name it. Just ignore the noise. It is what it is on this board - the “big 3” are good, everything else is mediocre and not worth applying. Whatever LOL |
x1000 We have no skin in this game against Bullis; our children have attended other schools. But I have been wildly impressed by the Bullis students Every.Single.Time that I've been on the campus. Children, elementary and high school, unasked but observant, have jogged ahead of my car to open gates so I can access handicapped parking when we've attended sporting events. Staff members have been helpful and pleasant when I've asked directions. And a beautiful campus. It sure beats the time on a Big 3 campus last year that a boy told his dad that I was a MILF and his dad agreed (yes, I've posted this before). Disgusting. I concur with both posters above that haters are gonna hate. Although I admit I always find it interesting when people like OP start wagging their weenie. What exactly are they trying to prove except how insecure they are? Guess what? We've all figured it out because you've made it patently obvious with your post. Here is some advice, OP: go get yourself into therapy, and your life as well as the lives of people around you will improve immeasurably because you won't feel that you have to mock and taunt others in order to make yourself feel adequate. |
Milf huh? Maybe that wasn’t his dad and there are worse things you could of been called. |
A kid and his dad gave you a compliment and you use it as an opportunity to trash the school. Sad. |
This story is strange to me. Both being called a MILF and requiring the use of handicapped parking? While I don’t condone underage boys coveting moms, I don’t usually associate them with finding handicapped women sexy at first glance, and so sexy they lose their filter and tell you outright. Very politically incorrect, I know. but there you go. Also I found your old post — guessing it was you by the same language — and you said two big 3 schools then. Sounds like you are the hater, pp. And finally, Bullis is great! If you like it then go for it! I have no doubt kids graduate and do really well. |

Interesting takes by the STA crowd. Two say it is a compliment to be called a MILF by a teenager and his father, and one thinks he slams women with disabilities by saying he doesn't find them "sexy."
I want to point out to the third person that reading comprehension is an important skill. Nowhere in my post do I assert that I am a person with a disability. I do, however, drive a car with handicapped license plates. Furthermore, I take umbrage at your disdain for women (or men, for that matter) with disabilities. Perhaps you assume that your disability is hidden from the rest of us? I can assure you that it is not. It is no wonder that while we allowed our boys to apply to (and were accepted by) STA, we were very happy when they chose another school. And, btw, if you pull up the old post it only relates to one school. In all, you chuckleheads are a big yuck. |

Thin thread is hilarious.
- also Bullis still has spots

Bullis college matriculations are pretty embarrassing and not even on the same league as the big 3 or even GDS. |
I don’t have a kid at STA, FYI. I am not sure where you get that? |
Not everyone is worried about how prestigious the college that their children go to is. Some people just want their kids to do their best, be happy, and go to a school that helps them achieve their goals. To make fun of a school because not all of the kids head to an Ivy speaks to who you are as a person. I hope that you are aware of how you are coming across. Can you enlighten us and let us know what school your child goes to? Those that talk smack never seem to be willing to let us know what school community they are a part of. Isn’t that interesting? |
