Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS)
| This guy was recruited. He’s in for a real challenge, folks. I’ve seen him in action and he won’t be able to cut it in your area. First he will give an unruly kid a parking pass in your teacher parking lot. He’s a disciplinarian of teachers. He brings in every new initiative to the school and then he leaves. It’s not good for kids. You’ll see. |
This. I am not the crazy LB poster and I know someone in the VBPS central office. This guy is going to be a shitshow with the teachers. He is full of himself and brings in a ton of new mandates for the teachers. Given that FCPS teachers already have enough pressure and mandates, it will be interesting to see how this all plays out. I taught at LB years ago, and the above posters are correct in that for the majority of teachers, nothing really changes when the top admin changes...I never once met with the actual principal during my tenure...you deal with your AP. However, if he pushes a ton of top down initiatives, shit will fly. |

Fairfax County doesn’t fix things, they hide.
If this guy doesn’t address the broken school culture and fix some things left over from the school’s past, he will be gone like everyone else before him. If he doesn’t bring support for teachers and build back confidence in the community? It will be over. |
Why does Gatehouse keep doing this kind of thing to Lake Braddock? Seriously. Is someone mad at that school? |
It will be a shitshow for the teachers. Wait till you see the changes he makes. And quickly. Wait to see how he treats the people he wants to leave, he’s a bully and will treat the teachers like shit until they leave. He will put many on action plans to help them out the door. He might smile to your face, but there’s a dagger coming from behind. |
There’s only one person he supports, and that’s himself. Look out folks, a storm is brewing. |
| Thank you to the posters who know the guy and are sharing their experiences. I was considering a position at LB (it’s my neighborhood school), but I’ve worked for an admin like you describe before and it is soul sucking and miserable, and I wouldn’t go back to that for a million dollars. I hope his tenure is short lived. |
Are you suggesting you made a decision whether to pursue a position at LBSS based on a few random posts on an anonymous Internet forum? It makes look like a troll or an idiot, or both. |
Nope. Smart. The rest of us prepare to weather the storm. Again. |
Just watch out, he comes in like your best friend, all smiles, handshakes, and conversation. He catches you off guard. Watch for speeches where he tells faculty that he’s not making any major changes right away. He lies. |
| He’s in a long line of administrators who have either been bounced out or who have been professionally destroyed. He sounds like a good fit if he’s awful. (The students already have a nickname for him. He’s not their first prey.) The administrators and such who took out the last few people will destroy him too. Parents have control so he will have to make it past them first. It’s best if he comes in and makes peace and focuses on maintaining the peace, don’t you think? This isn’t a 9-12 grade, low parent involvement school seeking the next principal. |
I can’t tell who “crazy LB poster” is attacking here: A) new principal who is obviously “awful” B) LB students who are viciously nick naming the new principal, because they have shrewdly taken down ... past principals...? C) Terrible and demanding LB parents? D) the current vice principals and staff who staged a coup to get the first interim principal canned? E) everyone? You the craziest “crazy LB poster”! |
I don’t know your school, but I feel for the staff. I do think he can do some wonderful and innovative things to improve the educational process for the students there, he truly cares. However, it’s the ruthless implementation of the ideas at the cost of the teachers is the issue. |
| We have terrific staff too. That’s disappointing to hear. |
I'm sorry to say, but the people who are posting about having worked for him are 100% correct. He single-handedly destroyed the best school in our district--the IB school. He's leaving two months before graduation. Wow--great way to support kids. He will come in and immediately try to divide and conquer. Over 40? Expect relentless observations, questions, and allegations about lesson plans along with constant criticism. If you are young, mediocre, soulless, and willing to do everything he says, you will probably become the new department chair. He will assemble a gaggle of useless, obsequious nitwits. They will be responsible for doing his bidding. We called them, "The Taliban." If central office wants an initiative, he will implement it--regardless of how nonsensical and wrong-headed. The good news is--he's like every bully. A bully is looking for an easy day. Teachers: Please remember to take ZERO s*** off this fool. He'll come at you hard, but if you come back at him and show no fear, he'll run away with his tail between his legs, slither away and start in on his next victim. Good luck, Everyone. I know you have some great teachers who really love kids. With any luck, he'll steal away like a thief in the night after only eighteen months right before the kids graduate.
