Do you drink wine every night?

Will make you fat too

Not necessarily.

I recently curbed a glass every night habit and have also gained 10 pounds. I didn't replace it with a ice cream habit, either.

I am feeling healthier, though, and definitely sleep a lot better.

I think this kind of highlights how off these discussions get when focused on "glasses." If 750 ml bottle is 4+ glasses for you, you are pouring more than 6 ounces per glass of wine. A standard pour is around 5 ounces (5 glasses per 750 ml bottle). My pour is 2 ounces (tiny antique glass). So three of us could all say we are having two glasses of wine, but one of is us drinking 4 oz and one of us is drinking 12+ oz and everyone else is somewhere in between.

I toss a fair bit of wine out...even pretty good bottles. If I'm home and want a glass, I will open a bottle and drink a glass. If it turns out the bottle turns before I can finish it, so be it. DH doesn't prefer wine, so he rarely helps out...but I wouldn't drink more than I wanted ever. It's not uncommon for me to not finish a glass either. I pour a glass of wine for myself more often than some people here seem to think is healthy, but I'm not too worried about it since I also have no problem leaving it unfinished or throwing extra wine away. I also rarely drink cocktails and can't drink beer (gluten sensitivity).

In terms of craving beverages and it affecting my functionality, I'm much more concerned about my addiction to caffeine.

Nope, not pouring 6+ ounces of wine in my glass! I actually measure 5 oz because I count Weight Watchers points. Just guessed a bottle was more than 4 glasses for me but didn’t remember exactly.

DP here. I have used vacuvin in the past. It causes the wine to last a bit longer, but not much. I am in the same situation as the PP - my DW does not drink (almost never, anyway) and I don't want to have more than one drink on a weeknight, or two on a weekend night. That was one motive (not the only one) for switching to craft beer - while there are some beers available only in 22oz or 25oz formats, most of the beers I am interested in are available in 12 oz or 16ozs - and have an abv of 5% to 8%, not 11% to 14%. (Yes, there are high concept craft beers with 10% abv available only in 22oz, and I drink those rarely)

Note, more generally, I have drink anywhere from 2 nights a week to 6 nights a week. Usually more like 3 or 4 nights a week.

No. Because I'm not a functioning alcoholic. Maybe two or three glasses a week at most.

Oh can we be friends??

For those saying a glass of wine a night means you have a problem with alcohol, just stop.

No. Rather, I drink a cocktail or two every night. I'm not fat. I have a great job. My family is intact. My kids are going well (thriving! But I hate that word so...ugh).

I have nothing to apologize for.

No. I have two Manhattans, however.

No, I like wine but drink very little. I’ve noticed that when I do drink it my sleep is worse, and my anxiety is worse. Which means I avoid it all but once or twice a month, and then I only have one glass.
