Do you drink wine every night?

We know what a weekend is

I don’t know how people can drink every night. I’d say I am a moderate drinker - but only on the weekends. It doesn’t occur to me to drink during the week and it’s too hard on my body more than a few times a week.

I do most nights. Not if I have a cold, a late exercise class, or just don’t feel like it. It’s a bit of a ritual, I guess. When I was pregnant, I ate a magnum bar every night, so maybe I just like an indulgence each day?

No. I did for awhile and I was looking forward to it far too much.

Yes, one or two glasses a night. Currently pregnant so obviously not drinking but looking forward to when I can drink again.

I would be worthless at work if I drank nightly

Same

No. I have an alcoholic drink 1-3 times a month. Just never needed it to be happy, thankfully.

This was me too. I quit and lost 20 pounds. I’m a better parent and spouse when I don’t drink.

Some people can drink every night because they're only having one drink, not binging. One drink typically doesn't render someone "worthless."

It’s cultural. Many European cultures drink wine with meals - my own background of French and Italian. People have one glass and don’t feel a need to finish a bottle. I have never seen my parents drunk, and they have a glass every night with dinner. They don’t “need” it, they just like it. I don’t care for wine, so I don’t drink it.

If you plan your life around it, then you may have a problem. But just having a glass a day is no big deal. Just shut up about it - the “wine-o-clock” jokes and shirts just make you sound extremely basic.

I will have a glass about three nights a week. I'm definitely not worthless after one glass. No real effect from just one. YMMV

Ignore the tiresome "you are addicted" poster.

I would have 1-2 glasses nightly. But had to quit drinking it every night because it was making me fat, it's expensive, and I sleep better without it. So only weekends now.

Right, that was my point. Having a glass three (or even five or seven) nights a week is less unhealthy than having 5+ drinks two nights a week. I usually have 1-2 glasses on weekends, including Sundays. Occasionally an ounce on a weeknight if I want the taste of it.

During the summer, I had a glass of wine every night. I put on about 5 pounds. I went back to just drinking 1-2 on weekends and lost the weight very quickly. I don’t drink alcohol during the work week mainly because it affects the quality of my sleep.
