Senate Democrats sending secret letter about Kavanaugh to FBI

And for those who say this is a desperate distraction? No, this is how it should be done. Feinstein received credible information about Kavanaugh committing sexual assault in high school and she brought it forward to the appropriate authorities. That”s not desperatatiom. That’s doing what they ought to do.

Unless you have more information than has been reported publicly, you are making some huge assumptions.

Sexual assault? Nobody has report that.

And, yes, I do believe it is desperation. Seems like she has been sitting on this information for a while now. But, she waits for the eleventh hour. Sounds a lot like desperation.

Daily Beast says Eshoo received letter after K was nominated and passed it on to Feinstein. https://www.thedailybeast.com/dianne-feinstein-to-refer-cryptic-kavanaugh-document-to-department-of-justice … Time frame is vague, but suggests Feinstein has had it for many weeks. But never showed to K, never asked him about it in closed session. 1/ You have no time frame facts, only what this guy has made up. Why should she show it to a possible rapist, btw?

Feinstein's handling of the letter strongly suggests that she doesn't view it as relevant and/or credible. But, hey, what's the big deal about inciting some last-minute character-assassination speculation? 2/ Much like the GOP cockroaches have done with everyone who seeks to shine on their crimes? Feinstein’s wrong, Comey was wrong, Yates was wrong, Ohr was wrong...

Why should anyone care what a has been conservative has to say? He’s probably co-signed all the muck the GOP has dumped on us in the last two years. Of course he has no problem with a gambling perjurer now accused of rape. Of course he doesn’t because win at all costs, right?

1. No, I’m basing it on history. First there is one victim, which emboldens other (usually) women to come forward. Bill Cosby. Roy Moore. So it’s just a matter of waiting because I bet there will be more.

2. “the incident involved possible sexual misconduct between Judge Kavanaugh and a woman when they were both in high school.” then referred to the FBI doesn’t sound like not sexual assault.

3. Really? It sounds like fact gathering to me. Due diligence. Remember those, before the GOP choked them almost to death?

Pitiful and desperate.

So you are ok with a potential rapist on the Supreme Court?

So, you are ok with convicting without knowing not only the allegation, but without any evidence?

No, but I am ok with credible evidence being investigated by the proper authorities. You seem not to be ok with even that step. You want to push this nomination through without it being properly vetted. Where do I suggest convicting someone? See the word "potential" in my post? Can you read?

1. You don’t know what the allegations actually are. You don’t know who the accuser is. You know nothing. Yet, you are already assuming that he is guilty and that more “victims” will come forward. That is disgusting.

2. It is being “reported” that it is “sexual misconduct.” First, are the reports accurate? You have not idea. Nor do I. Secondly, sexual misconduct is not necessarily sexual assault.

3. Fact gathering? Really? Before involving investigators? Sure. Uh-huh.

She reported it to Trump's FBI. Do you trust the FBI to investigate it properly? If so, then let the investigation take its course. If not, then Kavanaugh could shoot someone on 5th Avenue and you would be okay with it, right?

Putting the word “potential” in front of “rapist" does little to lessen the inflammatory nature of your post.
I am betting this will turn out to be yet another “Kamala Harris” cryptic claim.

I think you need to realize that the GOP attacks women and fully support men. Always! It is the party of old white guys. The original old boys club. Any allegations will be ignored. They supported a pedophile.

My point exactly. PP has already convicted this man based on an anonymous allegation of something none of us know what it is.......
“Where there’s one victim, there are bound to be more...” are her exact words.
And, then, called this big mysterious “act,” “sexual assault.” We have no information to indicate that.

Guess we now know why Trump liked Kavanaugh so much. So much in common.

Haven’t heard anybody say anything about convicting. We just want the information.

You are already calling him a “potential rapist.” That is pretty inflammatory right there.

Potential does not equal conviction. (Though I am not the PP)

I will wait to see what this is all about, but color me skeptical that it is anything of merit.

Sure, we know how much you like proof, facts, innocent until proven, law and order. We know!

Yeah, tell it to Al Franken. The GOP wasn't so fond of letting due process go forward for him.

Actually, I was a conservative who believes Franken was given a raw deal. And, it wasn’t so much the GOP who called for his resignation. You can thank Gillibrand and other Dems for that. I don’t agree with Franken on pretty much anything. But, I believe he was forced to resign over a really stupid incident.

If there were something so damning, I would think that one of Kavanaugh's students at Harvard Law would have filed a complaint years ago. Or, a law clerk, Or someone he has worked with in the last 30 years.

Should be interesting to see what this is about. And, if this anonymous person fails to come forward, it will be difficult to prove or disprove anything. But, I think that was the intent.

I don't know what is being alleged. But it takes a long time for these accusations to come forward and to go anywhere. Look at Kozinski - this sh*t went on for decades, allegedly, before becoming talked about in public and leading to any consequences. It was talked about in private but not public. Powerful men are well protected.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/judge-who-quit-over-harassment-allegations-reemerges-dismaying-those-who-accused-him/2018/07/23/750a02f2-89db-11e8-a345-a1bf7847b375_story.html?utm_term=.7095877014c6

And actually I hadn't realized that Kavanaugh was one of Kozinski's clerks, and the two were friends.

Yeah, Kavanaugh said he called the shamed former judge to check on his feelings after he was outed.
