Let's put aside the benefits that some people notice with pot use. Is it really not doing any harm to him to smoke it? Inhaling any substance means it is going into his lungs and damaging them. Maybe it's not a pack a day habit but let's not pretend there is zero danger surrounding him smoking pot.
It sounds like they had a rational conversation and are on the same page now. |
I don't think this is the case anymore. I know a lot of successful people that smoke. I personally don't like it but to each their own. I also don't equate op's situation to alcoholism, more like a glass of wine a few times a week. |
What’s the plan when your teenagers recognize the smell? Hie has allergies and he is smoking + other health problems. Go with him to his next doctor’s appointment while he explains his self medicating. |
An adult man smoking a little pot on occasion? This is such a non-issue. And please don't cloud his use as some kind of medicinal thing. People smoke pot to get high. Yes I know, it cures everything from alzheimers to cancer if you believe the claims. But he's just getting high. Like enjoying an occasional bend to get high says a lot about your |
I posted here about something similar recently. In my case, my DH did go through the process to get his card to take the illegal component out of the situation. My second worry was the kids. We agreed he would only do it at night once they were asleep. I still feel a bit uncomfortable with it tbh, but I have agreed to give it a try as he says it helps his anxiety and pain, and so he is trying to wean off the pharmaceuticals he currently takes for those. Trying to be open minded, we'll see how it goes. |

Lots of fully-grown, smart people smoke occassionally (raises hand). Scientists, journalists, architects I know... all very successful. Many acquaintances have no clue, and many are hesitant to talk about it since so many people (clearly!) are so judgemental about it. |
I'm PP -- I'll also add that this group of occasional pot smokers has no overlap with the group of frantic wine-moms and beer-dads who are desperate for their drink at the end of the day, and talk about it a lot. Why is it so ok in our culture to talk about drinking like that, and to do it so regularly? |
Marijuana actually helps with joint pain and inflammation. I'd be pissed if you were projecting your issues with your ex onto me when all I was doing was trying a natural form of medicine to alleviate my condition in the privacy of my home after my children were asleep.
You sound paranoid and woefully misinformed. |
A lot of successful parents smoke pot. I know of quite a few (me including) that do. We do it late at night once or twice a week after the kids go to bed and its never enough to get totally high. It simply helps with anxiety and sleep. It is also very, very easy to get pot. I guarantee he is not going to a seedy pot dealer - lol. One of his friends who has a medical marijuana card is probably giving him some. It doesn't cost a lot if you only smoke a little bit at a time. He shouldn't be hiding it, but he is because you disapprove so much. |
It's no different than having a glass of wine at night to unwind. Actually, it's better for you than wine. |
Why is drinking so socially acceptable but not pot? Genuinely curious. |
We've had the "marijuana is a drug/gateway drug/just say NO to drugs" campaigns drilled into our brains. |
Exactly. Racism and Drug War Era messaging, that's it. |
My husband smokes cigars. It stinks and I hate it. He knows my feelings and still continues to smoke. He only smokes them outside or in a cigar bar. He of course washes his face before bed or jumps in the shower. I'm not going to parent him.
Maybe your husband can use CBD oil with or without THC to get similar benefits without the smell? |
