No. #56 in THE ranking #192 QS World University ranking |
And because clearly USNews is a more reputable news organization than the Wall Street Journal and The Time of London. . . |
Well, USNews has had to place some in buckets that don't fit too well. Dartmouth College, Wake, College of W&M for instance end up in National Universities while University of Richmond ends up in LAC. |
Let me just say that it is ridiculous to have UCLA ranked above Berkeley. |
US news doesn’t do the placements, idiot. They simply follow the Carnegie classifications. |
Huh? Vandy has always been very prestigious. Not Duke level, but close. |
|
On Niche, UVA is at no. 2 with UCLA at no. 3 best public university. https://www.niche.com/colleges/search/top-public-universities/ |
The other t was for racists |
The point is still valid and why call someone an idiot over this? WSJ and Forbes decide to combine classifications. USNews decided to follow Carnegie classifications. And even then they made the decision to combine High Research R2 (Wake, W&M, Dartmouth, Rensselaer, etc.) with Highest Research R1 (Michigan, MIT, etc.). |
And Michigan #1 but you can't say that on this forum. . . |
Vandy has been highly regarded, but if you go back and look at selectivity, like the post says, it was historically less selective than UVA and W&M. Duke has been more selective as long as I can remember. Vandy has become much more selective over the past 10 years. See release from 2005. https://news.vanderbilt.edu/2005/04/04/vanderbilt-undergraduate-admissions-most-selective-yet-for-class-of-2009-59370/ |
| If amazon lands in nova, as it almost surely will, y’all’s kids chances of getting into UVA will markedly decrease. |
