| Yes - similar - im about 5’5 and 135 though was 110 before kids. My youngest is 3 now. I have a big belly - it’s awkward because people want to ask if I’m pregnant again. Im going to try to start running again soon .... |
| Depends on your build. I'm 5'6" 143 with an athletic build and can wear pretty much anything I want. I am still trying to lose a few more lbs but anything under 132-133 and I start to look rather gaunt and my clothes hang weird. I like having some curves. |
| How you carry your weight varies so much by person. I am 5'4, and the lightest I've ever been as an adult was like 129 when I was in a very extreme phase of working out like crazy and barely eating. I looked totally gaunt and didn't get my period, so it wasn't a healthy weight for my body type. Anything under 140 was really hard for me to maintain, and this was before I had kids. Now I'm 38, 152 and I have two kids. I am definitely higher than my ideal weight and about 10 pounds higher than before I had kids. I'm working hard to lose at least 10 pounds, and I'd like to settle back at 140 and stay there for life. I'm sure some people would say I'm fat at my current weight, and even at 140, but you can't please everyone! |
| I’m same height and 140 would be too much for me. 125 is my best weight. I can eat and maintain without extreme effort. I believe in the set point theory. Every body has their own number but once you realize where yours is, it makes things easier, in my experience. |

OP, check out this website:
https://www.mybodygallery.com My weight has fluctuated a lot in the last 10 years and I have found it useful in the past to get perspective on how I look. |
| I'm somewhat shocked by these responses. I'm 5'5, 140lbs. I am a size 6 and pretty buff. I'm 49 so I can usually get down to about 135, but have to literally starve to get down below that. I look great in my clothes. Because i am more fit, I fit my clothes the same as I did when I was about 132 lbs. |
What part of the responses shock you? |
I’m a previous poster but this is me too! I probably could have bought a size 4 this summer as my size 6 shorts feel baggy. I think I’d have to starve myself and stop lifting weights to see the scale drop significantly. |

It really depends on the person and their bone structure. I'm 5'6.5, and I'm currently 125. I have a gut, and my thighs are big and wiggly. It's not attractive, and I do not look thin. I think that I look best at 115, but now that I'm in my 40s, it's almost impossible to get there. It was never hard to stay there before, and I didn't even eat well.
So, on me, 140 would be overweight. After kids, I was 105, and my Dr. told me that it was too low. I loved it though, and thought that I looked great. I have small bones though. It just depends. If you aren't happy, then try to change it. |
That site is so interesting. I’m an inch shorter than the OP and 138 and fit into a size 2. When I trained for a marathon years ago I dropped down to 125 and size 0s were hanging off of me. People are always shocked at how much I weigh, they usually guess 15-20 pounds lighter but I guess I’m pretty solid. |

I’m 5’5” and am 157. 155-160 has been my normal for the last 5+ years. I don’t think I look ‘fat’, and I dress well to hide/ accentuate my good parts
That being said, I’m not okay with it. I can only wear one pieces, can’t wear anything tight, and hate my body in pictures. Last Spring I was depressed (found out my long term boyfriend was cheating on me and lying - I spent 2 months agonizing/ analyzing/ couldn’t eat or sleep) and I lost about 20 pounds. I thought I looked great at 135 lbs. |
Do you do a lot of weight training? |
I'm a little shocked by these responses too. I'm 5'5'' and weighed 140 pre-kids. I'd typically get down to 135 in summer time for bathing suit season. I wore a size 6. I'm in the process of losing baby weight now and weigh 150. I could definitely stand to lose some weight but I'm a size 8 and look good in clothes. The OPs weight sounds fine to me. |
| As others have said, it does really depend on the person and build OP. I had a friend who was 5'5" and weighed 150 and looked thin. I am 5'66" and looked kind of fat at 135. |
