Weighing 130 is one thing, but putting in 40 pounds is absolutely going to show and not look good on you.

Um, what? Why are you so judgmental--and why can't you do math?

I thought she wrote 160. Now I see it’s 140.

I’m not judgmental. OP asked about her weight and I provided a no BS response. You don’t need to gain 20 pounds as a result of having kids. Maybe 5 or even 10, but not 20.

You've either never given birth or had the best, easiest pregnancies and recoveries ever.

Nope! Gained 65 pounds!

I am similar except 5’5. I was 120 at 23 when I got married and skinny. No muscle, always did cardio for exercise. I had 6 kids in 9 years and always settled around 130 between kids. Since the last I was hovering 138-140, size 6/small. But I also started strength training seriously. I only weigh myself at the doctor because I have a love/hate with the scale and don’t find them accurate. In the last year, I’ve been doing IF and really upped my strength game and I gained 3lbs (143!!!) between doctor visits. But my clothes are looser and I could probably buy size 4 this summer. I can also see so much muscle definition and I’m still working on it.

Yes, I could stop all of this and diet like crazy and only run and get down to 120 on the scale but is that natural for me? Probably not and I would be miserable in the process. I felt like a kid at 23 and of course I was super light. Most people are smaller when they are younger. But age and pregnancies change things so I don’t agree that it’s necessary to be the same weight at nearly 40 years old.

Sorry, what is IF?

I’m 5’5 and personally felt the hottest I’ve ever felt in my life at around 140. Others may disagree, but below that I would have lost my butt. I was a 6. But I have no desire to ever be a 0 or 2 because I’m not naturally thin and life is too short to diet obsessively.

140 is fine! How you "feel" varies person to person. Some women feel quite depressed about themselves if they're not skinny. I think that's an awful way to live. It vain to insist on being very thin. Nothing is unhealthy about your weight, but if you feel a sense of shame or something like that, by all means lose 5lbs. It doesn't need to be much. Good luck, and don't spend so much time fretting over this.

IF- intermittent fasting

5'6", 140 sounds healthy. It really depends a lot on your body composition, but I imagine at that height and weight, it's healthy.

Sure, you could be leaner. Do you want to be? You could also be stronger. Do you want to be?

I wouldn't try to just diet down and be "skinny" though. Last time I was at the beach I saw a lot of skinny 40+ women, and honestly, I don't think that really skinny look is attractive. Just my opinion, since you asked for it.

I’m 5’6” and I feel and look my best at 125. I’m in my late 40s and weigh 135. It’s so hard to get back down to 125. My body seems to want to settle at 135-145 now.

Nobody has mentioned their age, but once menopause hits, losing weight is more is more difficult. I am 5'6" and currently weigh 132 lbs and am 61 years old. I was 125 pre kids.

I'm 43 and 5'6" and 175 after 2 kids.

When I was in my single 20's I dieted heavily and got down to 125. When I look at pictures of myself at that stage, I think I look too thin. Face too angular, kind of skeletal.

Between then and my first kid, I went up to low 130's. After my first, I lost the baby weight down to 135-140. I look at pictures from that period and think I look good.

Now, obviously, I have a lot to lose, but I'm not aiming for my all-time-low. I'd be very happy with 140, if I looked and felt healthy.

After DC2, I lost the baby weight down to about 150 and then put a lot back on.

35, 5'6", 4 yr and 6 yr old children, 175

I look and feel my best at 150. I carry weight well so even at 150 people think I weigh 130. Can't go below 150 or my face looks emaciated and I lose my butt.

I know one thing for sure though. 175 is NOT working for me and I'm trying to get back down between 150-155 lbs.

Just do strenght training and firm up. I'm sure you look fine.

+1 - I was actually over 200, am now down to 185 and continuing to lose slowly. But my doctor recently told me I'm probably not going to be able to get to 150 and that I should think more about 155-160.
