How reasonable a request is it to expect your husband to make a good salary?

OP, you are right! I expected this of my DH and he has fulfilled this expectation.

On the other hand, I have also fulfilled his expectation of me as a wife and a mother.

He expected me to contribute only around 100K (very doable), be film star good looking with a great body , have a matching libido, and pop out one boy and one girl - who were both good looking, healthy, high achievers in sports and academics. I have fulfilled this expectation.

So, tell us a bit more about yourself.

But forget about children, because someone needs to raise them. Winging it after you're exhausted from from office job isn't a good plan.

And then when this husband does find a job making this salary OP will be on here complaining her husband is always working and never at home to spend time with her.

Nevertheless, people succeed raising kids and working all the time. My entire neighborhood actually.

Do you understand how genetics works? It's the man's sperm that determines the sex of the baby so if he was expecting you to somehow genetically engineer your own body in order to 'pop out one boy and one girl' then that makes no logical sense. Also, what would he have done if the baby was the wrong sex or not attractive enough? Divorced you? Put it up for adoption? You two sound like you're perfect for each other in any case.

And I bet the parents argue quite a bit about house chores and childcare. Most do. When my DH and I had kids our HHI was close to $400K, and we still argued about childcare, housechore type stuff because we were both working. Sure, we outsourced as much as we could but you can only outsource so much. Someone still has to be the parent and take care of house/child stuff. Too stressful. I pushed DH to have one of us cut back. I gave him the option. He said no, so I cut way back, at one point became a sahm, and life was so much less stressful. My libido also went up. Bonus for him. We had to move to a lower col area to achieve this. Everyone is much happier.

I don't necessarily agree with OP, but this IMO is not that different to the physical standards some men have of women -- she must be no smaller than a C cup, not be more than x lbs overweight, etc...

That would be 0 pounds. For men an women. Overweight is a dealbreaker.

For a supermodel. Stop pursuing supermodels: pretty guys with Beemers or whatever.

Being "not overweight" does not mean being a supermodel. Not even close.

Women want supermodels. Princes: $150K or more, status, flashy job, I’ve League, etc. And those guys probably won’t tolerate less than a hotty.
