When Carl and the new character Siddiq were fighting walkers in the woods. |
| Heartbroken. Scott Gimple is a jerk. Chandler was told he’d be around for another 3 years. He even bought a house near the filming location. |
We’ve watched him grow up. |
Wow. that is sleazy. I just assumed Chandler got another role in another show (like...Shane?) It really hit me when Carl and Rick were walking side by side and talking how much older Chandler is now. You're right, we did watch him grow up. I guess there is no way to save him because of where the bite is, huh? no amputation. I am really bummed about this. I also am thinking how unrealistic Negan's group's rising was so organized. In one episode you have the angry workers downstairs and like 5 or 6 leaders with Negan all stuck, surrounded by walkers. The plan was to wait them out until they surrendered. Now, you have enough soldiers to overpower THREE societies at the same time. And these groups couldn't battle with them? It just seemed too far fetched that in the midst of it all, Negan could round everyone up, have communications systems coordinated, guns and ammo and organize such a well, thought-out plan. |
| And Carl could have shot Neegan from the observation perch? And why wouldn’t be, especially knowing he was going to die from the bite. |
| They need to fire Scott Gimple, he is killing the show. And he knows his work sucks, every time they have him on Talking Dead and ask him about controversial decisions he's so awkward trying to justify/defend it. There were so many other ways they could have addressed that plot point without killing Carl, that was a cop-out by Gimple because he doesn't have the creativity to think of something else. |
didn't catch that. thanks... it not like he was gonna be alive for ever, they have strayed from the comics some what. he is 18, maybe he wanted to go to college and live a bit like a normal teen... |
| The actor put off going to school for a year and I believe bought a house in GA where they film. It is rumored that Gimple told him he had 3 years of storyline for him and then he and AMC decided they didn't want to negotiate a new contract when Chandler turned 18... |
This. They're saying they killed the character to resolve a plot point (I won't say what the plot point is because it's a spoiler for future storylines), but I'm certain it was about $$. AMC has screwed up this show before by being cheap. |
They didn't show him being bitten in the episode, but it strained credulity to think that he would have gotten out of that situation without a bite (which had annoyed me at the time). Once you know he has the bite, that's the only time it could have happened. |

If you want to know when the bite happened:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZgGUiCFxrQ&feature=youtu.be&t=1m24s It's more than a "rumor" that Chandler didn't want to leave the show. Direct quote from his father: http://www.ign.com/articles/2017/12/11/walking-dead-exiting-stars-father-claims-show-fired-him
and direct from Chandler:
He was planning on attending UGA which is 2 hours or so from where they film. |
| While I feel bad for Chandler on a personal level, he's a terrible actor. I cringe whenever he speaks on the show. Maybe that had something to do with his being fired. |
+1 Yes, I feel bad saying it but the kid is terrible. He should use the time off to take some acting lessons. |
Exactly! So much was wrong with the last couple episodes. They are in the middle of a multi-day epic battle... 1. Rick goes off alone to talk to Trash people. Why would he do it during the battle? He "didn't" need their help, so why do it during battle? 2. Why would Carl go off and chase Saddiq when their community is in the middle of a battle? 3. Why did they not have a force stay and watch to ensure they didn't get out? Yes, I know they had a couple people hidden in trees or on poles, but not a force to deal with them getting out. How many times have they had an opportunity to kill Negan and didn't? Way to many. |
Agree with all of these points. Up until the last few episodes, WD had one me back after I was hanging by a thread. I don't think I'll continue to watch the show anymore. Suspension of disbelief is one thing--but the show has degraded into ridiculousness. Having Rick take the risks and spend the time with Trash people--what?! WD loves to kill off characters in a heart-breaking way, and this is manufactured drama yet again. This time it's too pro forma and on top of too many too-stupid-to-believe antics and plot points. I'm through. |
