Saratoga is actually a terrible neighborhood. Hotbed for drugs. |
| Yeah, Saratoga is not a fairly safe neighborhood. |
| I would contribute funds to a professed law and order council candidate or mayoral candidate, if anyone has names or links. It's time to get organized and send a message to our representatives that this is unacceptable in our city. |
I'm on board too. My DH and I have spoken to police that patrol the area where this young woman was killed. Can't say much here but there's a real problem with people being arrested and then being released within a few days to a month. So much so that the officer said he's been laughed at numerous time's by people he's arrested. They know they will face nothing more than a slap on the wrist. The joke is on us. |
Don't hold your breath on council candidates. If anything, a number of council members think that the police are too tough on our local criminals. Some, like Kenyon McDuffie, actively court the "cell block" vote the way Marion Barry used to. Others like Ms. Nadeau confuse mistake "progressivism" for naivety. |
| I was outraged when I heard about this incident. So unfortunate. |

There is a vigil today in Memory of Jamahri Sydnor
When: Wednesday August 23 , 4:00pm - 5:00pm Location: Wilson Atrium |
The Post ran a series of this that was sickening and heartbreaking And I've heard all about this McDuffie. How do we bring pressure to bear so it's not just business as usual? MARY Cheh would be one as Wilson is in her ward. Whose Ward did Jamahri live in or was walking in at the time? No one in our city should be laughing as they get arrested. |
I believe that would be the aforementioned Mr. McDuffie. Good luck with that. |
The project housing on 14th and Saratoga is scheduled to be demolished. Most of the criminal activity takes place there in Brentwood Manor. The single family housing in that area is pretty safe with families minding their own business. Mixed-use development with shops and rentals are going up in place of the projects. I have mixed feelings about it. 90% of the people at Brentwood Manor are decent people like grandmothers, small families. They are all getting thrown out because a few bad actors. Also, there are tons of people from MD coming in, some of them former DC residents with ties to that area. They also bring in the criminal elements. |
Not sure exactly which article(s) you meant, PP. So, I'm posting a few in the interest of furthering awareness. DCUMers can read up on some local research, and if it gets the phone lines burning in the Wilson building, then so much the better. Let this girl's death not be in vain. Wow. Indeed. Has he SPOKEN to this? Given his leniency to law enforcement in our city, he has responsibility here imo unless he takes steps to address the revolving door. Turn a new leaf McDuffie. And I want to be very clear - I don't believe brains are fully formed until 27. That's why if we send children to reform programs they should actually be getting education skills and counseling and/or they should stay in the lock up until they have the sense not to fire pistols in the street and wreak havoc. Dc youth adjudication is doing neither, and needs to be looked at immediately MCDUFFIE. |
Yes this is part of the expose PP. Thank you There is one about prosecutors in DC literally dropping gun charges (the Hypocrisy in our city with its attitudes to guns) for youth to avoid mandatory consequences that was particularly shocking. |
