Or some other country will take its place? Looks like China. But they have integrity problems that will eventually be their downfall. |
I'm not the least bit concerned. Hell, I probably won't be around anyway. The real threat is competing in a global economy. In the US, Asians could be considered a threat because academically they kick ass, but blacks and Hispanics aren't even on anyone's radar. |
You should all read White Trash by Nancy isenberg. This is not new. The mayflower America of our "founding fathers" was a lot of good PR and spin.
The generationally wealthy(top 0.1%) will be in power for many many generations to come, and they are largely white. You may feel tension at the fringes, but institutionally society is well structured to contain that politically and economically. |
The government is providing those opiates and cashing in on all the overdoses, deaths and devastation. I was happy to see that on LI (in NY) there is a class action lawsuit against Big Pharma for their contribution in the opioid epidemic. Perhaps the people will take their country back, whatever color they are. It is the wealthy and greedy of all colors that are screwing us all over. |
We are already a minority where we live. NBD. So far no radical change. |
This. Marriage is a key factor in amassing wealth. Stable two-parent families play a critical role in financial success. If you look at data and research related to poverty, one of the biggest data points that jumps out is single parenting/having children out of wedlock (and teen pregnancy which prompts girls to drop out of school). Also check out the data on criminal records (which frustrate future earning potential). Whites still take the trophy when it comes to advanced education and dual income families. It would take a major cultural shift in terms of socially acceptable behavior to change the current socioeconomic patterns of racially diverse communities...particularly on the coasts. |
This is old data. The current thinking is that it's poverty that begets teen pregnancy, not the other way around. Whites "take the trophy" on education/wealth because we've set up the system to be advantageous to us. We can't just our behavior and successes like this until we truly level the playing field. |
Blah blah white culture
You all think you're the best |
We may be treated worse. That is human nature, isn't it? The people in power have more slippery ethics, etc. Values go by the wayside in an effort to maintain that power. The ends justify the means, and all that. Wealth is a bit of an insulation against that, but not completely. I'm 50, white, and female. And I have watched this country change a lot over my lifetime. I've been low income and I've been high income. I've been uneducated and I've been highly educated. I grew up rural, and am now urban. Right now, I work with extremely well-educated people, from all around the globe. Different races, different religions, different cultures. I am amazed at the talent, the ethics, and the vision of the people I work with. So I am hopeful that with education comes peace. |
Yes, poverty begets poverty. Yes, the playing field isn't level. But my point is valid: it would take major societal and cultural shifts to have an impact. If you actually read the data, you'll see that economic inequality really began to jump in the 1970s...and whites were negatively impacted as well. But the fact that two incomes are better than one really can't be brushed off. It's a fact. It's also commonsense. And the data shows that two income families are far less likely to live in poverty. The data shows that education level plays a role in earning potential. The data shows that dropping out of school to have a baby out of wedlock will negatively impact your future earnings. Of course, there are plenty of white people living in poverty in the south and Midwest (primarily). But urban poverty and suburban poverty on the coasts tend to be AA and Latino...and Latino to a far lesser extent given their cultural norm of marriage and living with extended family coupled with employment. |
Stay on topic. |
Yup, we live in a majority-black city. We're doing just fine. |
White culture in our country was historically meant stable families and steady employment of some kind. More recently it has included education. When a minority achieves these things they are accused of "acting white." Therefore, we may lose our majority as a population but our culture will continue forever as more minorities achieve success. |
Let's be honest, gradual change will not be shocking at all because it happens yearly in tiny ways. We may barely even notice it until one day we are sitting around as old ladies talking about how things used to be. |
Same here. We (white people) used to live in a majority Dominican and black neighborhood and were just fine. As to white culture, I believe we had more in common with our neighbors than, say, with rural whites, of whom I know exactly zero. |
