White liberals are such a joke, the Chinese use it as an insult on forums

Republicans love Russians, they love Soviet / KGB holdovers like Putin, love the ChiComs... What's the world gone to? My grandparents would be rolling over in their graves....

Far more loyal and glowing toward them than they are to their own patriotic American neighbors, who they revile for the absolute stupidest of reasons, like "she drives a Prius."

The right has absolutely lost its mind.

I distinctly remember it was Ted Kennedy who contacted the Soviet union in order to undermine Ronald Reagan.

And dumb white Southern redneck Republicans are made fun throughout the rest of the world. What's your point?

Um no. But it was the Reagan campaign that offered conciliation to Iran before the election, which meant that they held the hostages until the moment of his inauguration. They subsequently got a sweet missile deal.

Come to think of it, what was the last free and clear Republican victory? Between Reagan, Bush and the voting problems, Ford, Nixon, and now Trump, it's a pretty sordid path to the white house.

At least George HW Bush was a stand-up guy.

No one uses "lol" anymore, PP. You sound really old.

Not the PP, but you could have fooled me. Plenty of liberal posters using lol, not to mention the revolting "lolz." I imagine they think they're hip, like you?

And using "con" isn't meant to be an insult? Please. Not the OP, btw.

They focus on the highest goal of spiritual enlightenment and leave the strengthening of the foundation of personal security, finance, food and water to the adults in America.

Perpetual teenagers.

If you can read Chinese:
https://www.zhihu.com/question/51331837

It might not be an easy task to define the term, for as a social media buzzword and very often an instrument for ad hominem attack, it could mean different things for different people. A thread on “why well-educated elites in the west are seen as naïve “white left” in China” on Zhihu, a question-and-answer website said to have a high percentage of active users who are professionals and intellectuals, might serve as a starting point.

The question has received more than 400 answers from Zhihu users, which include some of the most representative perceptions of the ‘white left’. Although the emphasis varies, baizuo is used generally to describe those who “only care about topics such as immigration, minorities, LGBT and the environment” and “have no sense of real problems in the real world”; they are hypocritical humanitarians who advocate for peace and equality only to “satisfy their own feeling of moral superiority”; they are “obsessed with political correctness” to the extent that they “tolerate backwards Islamic values for the sake of multiculturalism”; they believe in the welfare state that “benefits only the idle and the free riders”; they are the “ignorant and arrogant westerners” who “pity the rest of the world and think they are saviours”.

It's basically a term the Chinese use to trash people online.

I don't think I've ever read a better description of western (particularly American) liberals. They nailed it.

I thought liberals cared what the rest of the world thought of us?

That is especially true because worrying about "topics such as immigration, minorities, LGBT and the environment" may get you arrested. All of those Chinese intellectuals who think worrying about the environment is a hilarious joke are welcome to breath the air pollution in Chinese cities all they want. They can even make jokes about me while they do it. Sadly for their sake, the real joke will be on them.

Here's another hypocritical response that ironically exemplifies the "white left" label - you claim that you value what the rest of the world thinks of the US but discount it when you don't seem to like the opinion, resorting to attacking *who* delivered the message, and not the content of the message itself. Even a dirty mirror reflects some truth.

The only thing this means is that the Chinese do not understand America and don't understand the pace of American social progress. Take LGBT as an example as it was specifically mentioned in the article - 25, 30, 40 years ago most Americans would have agreed with the Chinese in many areas, most opposed gay marriage, even civil unions. But fast forward to today and almost 70% of Americans are in favor of gay marriage. The Chinese are still living in that world of decades ago. Back then people also wouldn't have batted an eye to hear someone with a disability called "retard" yet today Americans on the whole avoid pejoratives and are much more supportive toward those with disabilities. A lot has changed in America, this is very real progress, but Chinese culture lags behind and their view of American progressivism is nothing more than incredulity stemming from their own ignorance and naivete about American culture and politics. Here in America we likewise have rural American conservatives living in similar cultural time bubbles, out of touch and unaware of the changing tides in the rest of America.

To say they *only* care about immigration, lgbt, etc is *profoundly* clueless. They do in fact care quite a bit about, jobs, the economy, national security, etc.

No, for the liberals in this country of Cuba

By the very definition liberals dislike dictatorships. Unlike the current president who admires strongmen autocrats.

I view responding to you as a community service. How are you today? Please don't kick any puppies, children or cats because you see Russians and Republicans in everything that moves. Okay? Kisses.
