This quote stood out to me, as this contradiction is the most glaring of all, IMO. I will never, ever understand how those who call themselves "feminists" can defend Middle Eastern Muslims, particularly men. It's absurd to say, "Oh, well not ALL of them feel/act this way." This is Middle Eastern culture. Women are hardly treated better than dogs. How can someone who identifies as a feminist defend these men and their abhorrent practices?

Well, you see a reasonable reading of the Qu'ran does not oppress women--but an inflamed radical reading of it definitely oppresses women. Just like the Bible.

Feminists follow the Episcopalian version of Islam. Conservative, but more forgiving and humanistic. Muhammad as Charleton Heston more or less.

The Christian Bible does allow for slavery - check Leviticus. However, all Christian nations have progressed enough to ban slavery.
The Koran does allow for mistreatment of women.
The fact that many Muslim nations have not progressed enough to ban mistreatment of women is not an indictment of Islam (after all, Christianity also allowed for bad things), but rather it's an indictment of societies that refuse to modernize.

Guys, guys, that's not the point. It matters not what it says in the Bible, nor does it particularly matter what it says in the Koran or the Torah or any other religious text, as we all know religion is up to interpretation (just go take a read in the Religion sub forum). It also does not matter what one particularly progressive sub section of a religion does. The complaint is not about feminist attitudes toward Muslims in the US, because Muslims in the US are like Christians in the US: they live and let live, in congruence with the ideals of the US. The problem is with feminist attitudes towards the particular Muslim cultures that are the current source of refugees, *THOSE* are the cultures that despite any mild interpretation of the Koran else where in the world, believes in a version of the religion where men have multiple wives, beat their wives and daughters, and engage in honor killing. It is the hypocrisy of the feminist position towards THIS segment of Muslims that is being pointed out by the Chinese post.

"Ridiculous liberal goals" is why we have better air quality (unlike China where a million plus people are dying prematurely each year because of their horrifically bad air quality) better water quality (ever seen how much trash, oil, et cetera is floating in the rivers around Chinese cities?) better and safer working conditions (unlike Chinese slave wages, people locked in factories, losing limbs, et cetera), food that's less likely to poison you (unlike melamine-tainted baby formula in China), safer consumer products, less fraud, less counterfeiting, et cetera et cetera et cetera.

And it's not "misplaced priorities" either. Jobs, economy, national security DIDN'T GO AWAY for liberals. All of that "ridiculous liberal virtues" stuff was done IN ADDITION TO all of those core things, not IN PLACE of them. Did you know that the solar power industry is one of the fastest growing job creators in the entire United States?
