Oh wow. Then you don't know what a skinny white 53 yr old woman looks like without outside intervention.
HH is a great example.

Skinny white woman of 53 here with no "outside intervention," not even Retin A.

I do not look like that. That is a smoker and sunbather. She looks twenty years older than me.

You should be grateful for you good genes.
I'm 53, fit, healthy eater, non-smoker, etc, etc and don't look nearly as good as HH.

Good for her for aging naturally. It's distracting when I watch movies and the women have had so much done to their faces, like the movie with Nicole Kidman and Jude law and the Bridget jones actress set in the 1800s.

Was that Australia? If so, there was a scene at the beginning with Kidman on a train. Her face was so strange, I stopping watching. Such a shame, because Kidman is brilliant. I'm so glad she's let her face go back to a more normal look.

Helen Hunter has looked ten years older than her age for a couple of decades now. She keeps her weight extremely low. If you look at her when she was on Mad About You, you see her body type is quite muscular, almost stocky.

Most people don't at 33.

Also, for god sake other PP, Helen Hunt is no where near "stocky."

The fabulous Miriam Margolyes is definitely stocky. Chunky, heavyset. So what?

I love Helen Hunt. But I do think she's too thin, which shows in her face. She was an absolute normal weight in Mad About You but is thinner now.

You guys are crazy if you think these men didn't have work done on their faces. Do you think plastic surgery/botox/filler is only reserved for women?

Whether they admit it or not, the majority of Holywood actresses smoke to help keep their weight down yet most of them don't end up with visible "cigarette lips" at 53 so there is obviously so.e sort of cosmetic procedure that helps hide the effects. It seems like Helen Hunt has opted to forgo that along with a lot of fillers, botox, etc.

She probably had some buffered down. Helen Mirren has major cigarette lips but she's still damn beautiful. At least guys can grow a mustache to hide the cigarette lips. (Some women probably can as well, but I have a feeling the entertainment industry would frown upon this--pun intended.)

I do agree with PP, Helen needs to add a few pounds. She looks too sinewy. She also has a very large forehead, which unfortunately makes her look a little more disproportional.

Bottomline: No one looks the same as they did 20 years ago.

She started getting really thin in the late 90s/towards the end of Mad About You, which was when super thin (as opposed to simply slender but still healthy looking) seemed to become the norm among Hollywood actresses. IIRC, this was around the same time that Jennifer Anniston, who was a pretty normal weight the first couple of seasons of Friends, became really thin & Courteney Cox became even skinnier than she was when the show began, Ally McBeal was a big hit & featured a bunch of really skinny actresses (most of whom were fairly thin to begin with but lost a significant amount of weight after the show premiered/they joined the show), Buffy the Vampire starring a very thin Sarah Michelle Gellar was popular, etc.

What does the bolded mean? I have never heard of "buffering down" skin/lips.

I totally agree with the rest of what you wrote ( & literally laughed out loud at the mustache comment)!

I can't get past her enormous forehead.

I never watched Mad About You but this new show Shots Fired is good and she's great in it. She plays the Governor of a small Southern town. It stars Sanaa Lathan and the guy that played Jessie Owens in Race.

Towns have mayors; states have governors.

Nicole Kidman was 35 yrs old when she did Cold Mountain with Jude Law and Renee Zellweger.

Sorry this is acceptable at age ,63
