IIRC, this was around the same time that Jennifer Anniston, who was a pretty normal weight the first couple of seasons of Friends, became really thin & Courteney Cox became even skinnier than she was when the show began, Ally McBeal was a big hit & featured a bunch of really skinny actresses (most of whom were fairly thin to begin with but lost a significant amount of weight after the show premiered/they joined the show), Buffy the Vampire starring a very thin Sarah Michelle Gellar was popular, etc.[/quote]
