Rockville High Alleged Rapist Bond

This is the reason most rape victims never come forward- they don't think they will believed and they are afraid of being shamed. What that girl did to report this crime shows tremendous bravery. The police took their evidence to the prosecutor who determined there is enough evidence to prosecute. That's all I need to hear.

Your post is will gross. Enough evidence to prosecute does not equal enough evidence to convict. You do know the difference, right? Innocent until PROVEN guilty?

Does anyone think the defense lawyers are or will be posting here? That possibility is disturbing.

They could be. Wouldn’t surprise me.
Doesn’t change my opinion of this whole sad story.
I hope the two do not get bond.

question: are these lawyers that were assigned to the case by MoCo or hired privately by the families?

No, they declined the state appointed attorney and hired private lawyers.

The attorney for the 18 year old is a man named Jezic. He's been all over the media proclaiming that the rapist is innocent.

I get it, fourteen year old are not the fourteen year olds of "yesterday." As a mother of a fourteen year old I am constantly battling with the perceived maturity social media thrusts on theses girls and the pressures they are faced with from teenage boys to conform and be like that other girl. It is in the girls face 24/7, so it is not inconceivable that this young lady was a little flashy or even beyond, sadly it has become the norm due to social media. A fourteen year old is flirting with emogees and so many other things that they just don't understand can give meaning to take things to far, flirting is almost a laughable act at this point in time. It is a struggle and an every day battle to keep our daughter fourteen and to impress upon her that she does not have the maturity that social media can sometimes make her look as though she has or can sometimes make her feel she has to be in order to fit in. That being said, this was a vicious attack on this young girl, there really is no excuse for this barbarism, if in fact everything in that police report is accurate. Let's try to remember that these fourteen year olds can get in over their head without the proper parental/guardian influence and guidance. As for an eighteen year old (or whatever his real age is), there is no excuse. He knew what he was doing.

What sort of texts and pictures?

The Post article says they are compromising, and that they agreed to meet for sex in the texts.

And this is how the scummy sleazy lawyer ends up being effective. Putting doubt in people's heads that this was the case even if it's not. Gross. She was 14.

I agree 14 year olds can have consensual sex but not so much with a 21 year old. I hope they can prove that this bastard was over 18.

You are talking about two of the most competent and skilled criminal defense attorneys in Maryland. But because they are defending someone of Hispanic heritage the attorney(s) are "scummy and sleazy". If they had been defending two Whitman students I guarantee you that you would not be using those terms.

Montgomery County does not "assign" attorneys to defend clients.

How does an undocumented person with no identification, no address have a cell phone and texting capabilties?

Kind of have to be documented dont you, where does the bill get mailed to??

FYI, the suspect in the story the OP posted was here legally.

Interesting that comments have been closed for this article. I am not surprised. People are angry.

She's still 14 no matter what the lawyer says.

Daddy is in prison and on his way to being deported apparently.

Not rape if consensual AND less than four years age difference between the two.

There may only be 3 year and ~10 months age difference.

Check COMAR. The language is right there.

Part of the police report is based on EVIDENCE, such as samples collected in the bathroom.

The narrative is not physical evidence .. The police report did say blood was collected. Because some of it is "evidence" does not mean all of it is evidence. Just up imagine how much DNA is on a boys bathroom floor.

That is why it is important to call the police ASAP and close off the crime scene, but most likely school staff did their own "investigation" which compromises the crime scene.

agree that there's lots of boys' DNA in a bathroom

However, that bathroom wasn't frequently used, as it's in a remote part of the school. Furthermore, DNA degrades from humidity and heat. So I'm assuming that their "fresh" DNA was evidence enough.

Rape cases can be complicated. If it was a "date rape" it's no less brutal. Even if she initially agreed to meet for sex with one guy, that doesn't mean it's fair game to have another guy join in or engage in sex acts that she said no to.

Absolutely not. You may be a racist but I am not. I don't care what race/religion the attackers are. They raped a 14 year old girl at school. And I watched the tape of Kezic on TV. He absolutely comes across as scummy and sleazy.

You obviously disagree based on your fuzzy definition of consent as posted on this thread, but I think rape by anyone is disgusting.

the rape within marriage concept is somewhat analagous here - I read that they are saying that it's consensual bc she was being prepped for an encounter in PE class. Not dragged into the bathroom at 9am, not with two of them - even by the defense attorneys own admission, the circumstantial soft facts don't fit the assault and the hard evidence
