This thread is gross. She's 14, it was rape. Nothing changes that. It's s shame some are willing to discredit her to advance an agenda. This is the reason most rape victims never come forward- they don't think they will believed and they are afraid of being shamed. What that girl did to report this crime shows tremendous bravery. The police took their evidence to the prosecutor who determined there is enough evidence to prosecute. That's all I need to hear.
Your post is will gross. Enough evidence to prosecute does not equal enough evidence to convict. You do know the difference, right? Innocent until PROVEN guilty?
I get it, fourteen year old are not the fourteen year olds of "yesterday." As a mother of a fourteen year old I am constantly battling with the perceived maturity social media thrusts on theses girls and the pressures they are faced with from teenage boys to conform and be like that other girl. It is in the girls face 24/7, so it is not inconceivable that this young lady was a little flashy or even beyond, sadly it has become the norm due to social media. A fourteen year old is flirting with emogees and so many other things that they just don't understand can give meaning to take things to far, flirting is almost a laughable act at this point in time. It is a struggle and an every day battle to keep our daughter fourteen and to impress upon her that she does not have the maturity that social media can sometimes make her look as though she has or can sometimes make her feel she has to be in order to fit in. That being said, this was a vicious attack on this young girl, there really is no excuse for this barbarism, if in fact everything in that police report is accurate. Let's try to remember that these fourteen year olds can get in over their head without the proper parental/guardian influence and guidance. As for an eighteen year old (or whatever his real age is), there is no excuse. He knew what he was doing.
