| What I was trying to say is, the reason why I have not gone to the emergency room is not because I am an adult. That was misconstrued. My phone is acting up I'm using speech to text. I was trying to explain to you that in my area the only thing an emergency room does here is assess that you are not currently in a state of an emergency. They will refer you to a specialist. I've seen it happen to too many people. Which is odd, because they do have specialist in there. I did not want to be subjected to being told you need to see a specialist make an appointment with your doctor. I have already done that and I am waiting. I can also assure you with certainty as unbelievable as this may sound I have not called every day to ask about cancellations. However, my doctor's office a shirt me they would let me know if someone cancelled and get me in sooner. No, I did not explain to them the whole and situation comma but I did give the answers to the questions that were asked. I guess based on that they don't realize how serious this maybe. Honestly, I know something is wrong, but I myself did not realize that it could be that serious. Grant you I am not happy with the physical way it is changing my body, but that is the least of what is going on at the surface. |
| Haven't read all the comments, but have you called your primary care doc and asked for a same day sick appointment? Almost all practices set aside appointments for people who need to come in immediately. Call tomorrow morning! |
OP, please stop going by other people's experiences. Your situation is different. The care you will receive is different. It *is* an emergency situation and it is absolutely worth a trip there. And you're nuts for thinking your doctor's office is going to remember to call you about a cancellation. Most don't. It is what it is. So YOU need to stay on top of that. YOU need to do the legwork and call every single day. When people call you a troll, this is why, because you seem so lackadaisical about a truly worrying situation. It's like you don't care at all, because you refuse to put in the work. Please, for once, listen, and stop posting here. Go to the emergency room. You will never regret going, but believe me, you will regret not going if things take a turn for the worse, before your 3/1 appointment. |
| My doctor's office used to do that between the hours of 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. he is a one-man band now. His partner left the practice. So, now they no longer offer that. And to make most of you happy they say the same thing, if you feel like it's an emergency then you need to go to the ER. They cannot get medical advice over the phone just as you guys cannot get medical advice over the internet. Which is not what I was looking for. I was looking for someone who may have a possibility, something that explains my symptoms and changes. |
You say you aren't looking for medical advice, then you proceed to say you are looking for medical advice. (Explanation of symptoms and changes) As your doctor's office has told you, if you feel like it's an emergency, you need to go to the ER. SO. GO. TO. THE. EMERGENCY. ROOM. Why are you purposely being so obtuse?? Why do YOU not care about your own health?? Why aren't YOU advocating for yourself by seeking immediate care and treatment?? You might be the most frustrating poster I've ever seen on DCUM because you REFUSE to accept actual help and advice. |

Have you used the Mayo Clinic symptom checker?
http://www.mayoclinic.org/symptom-checker/select-symptom/itt-20009075 |
| That makes sense. Thank you I'm truly sorry. It appears that I'm not taking this serious. I am I just always try to find answers that are not so dramatic or horrible. I'm not in denial nor do I take this lightly. That is why I wanted to see if someone had any ideas. I understand that you guys are not doctors. And a doctor is someone that will give me the most answers. I assure you all that I do not have the death wish and I do not wish to continue making myself look as though I am an idiot by not going to the doctor. I had no idea that it could be that serious. Grant you I knew it was not something minor, because I have already tried everything that we as humans typically try when we have symptoms. It was the weight and everything physical that made me realize is this is not good. |
| No I have not use this Anthem checker. Dare I ask what it says? I think I was pretty much told to leave now and go to the doctor. I am not being rude I'm just stressing out way more now. |
And we've given you a list of possibilities, most of which are bad and need immediate attention. Get on it OP! |
| Could be Lyme. I had a friend with similar symptoms and it wasn't Lyme but a serious gastrointestinal issue. She had to go off dairy and lots of other things and took several months to resolve it. I hope it's something solvable for you. Good luck. If you have any additional symptoms like fever, blood in stool, acutely abdominal pain then go to the ER. Also call around other gp and clinic practices. You need to get in and get bloodwork done anyway so may as well get that started or it'll take another week after your appointment to get results. |
So here's the thing. If this was your daughter/son/ really good friend describing these symptoms to you. What would you tell them? Would you want them to go see someone right away? Would you call around to get the soonest appointment possible for them? Take care with yourself as much as you would for someone else. No matter how healthy you were before. |
| OP: Losing 20 lbs unintentionally is really troubling. If you are forcing yourself to eat the same amount that you did before and still losing weight, this is a huge red flag for cancer. With your other symptoms, I -- like many posters -- would be severely concerned about ovarian cancer. Expanding girth is a relatively unique symptom and expanding girth + weight loss, well... No doctor is going to say you're nuts for coming in. If I were you and I'd genuinely tried to make appointments with my GP and couldn't? I'd go to the ED. Say the symptoms have gotten worse to the point where they're becoming unmanageable and that's the emergency. Or ovarian cancer actually has a pretty easy blood test screen, so you could always go to an Urgent Care and ask them to do a CA-125 test on you. |
OP, you have a month of serious abdominal pain that doesn't get better with treatment and includes nausea, extreme unintentional weight loss, bloating, and diarrhea. The list of things that can cause those symptoms together ranges from as mild as a food intolerance issue (lactose intolerance, for example) to cancer. Go to urgent care if you're not willing to go to the ER, but urgent care will likely tell you to go to the ER, so GO TO THE ER. Tell them that you have been experiencing these symptoms every day for a month and that your doctor isn't able to see you until March. |
| You have to wait until March 1 to see your GP? You need a new GP. I hope you get some answers soon, waiting 8 days to see a doctor would drive me crazy. |
