what's the worst affair story you've heard of where the marriage recovered?

Why did the DH have sex with his wife? Most pregnant women won't make a big deal of the DH begs off.. and he was getting plenty elsewhere

What would he even say though? He probably didn't know he had the clap and it's not like he would have known the symptoms his wife was having were related to an STD.

Obviously he's wrong for cheating but I'm not sure how he could have mitigated the situation other than by confessing to cheating...which...wouldn't really make a lot of sense from his standpoint.

The obgyn and doctors trying to figure out what was happening asked the both specifically if either of them could possibly have any STDs. He lied to the docs while his unborn child was dying from his sexual infidelity.

Obviously the husband here was a jerk. But, I don't understand why the doctors didn't just test for STDs. Everyone who's ever kissed a person could possibly have an STD. I'm sure the husband thought oh, I don't have anything and she doesn't have anything so no, I couldn't possibly have anything. And when a child's life is at stake you should test for everything.

Tragic. But I wouldn't say this marriage recovered, since it just happened. That was the topic of the thread.

The pregnant wife started to have "symptoms" and passed it off for a bit as pregnancy related. As time passed, she felt like something was terribly wrong. She went to the ob-gyn and they did tests, and the baby was not viable due to chlamydia that the baby and mom both got from dad. Baby was over 30 weeks and healthy up to that point. Dad said nothing. After testing confirmed Dad had it, he admitted it. I know the baby was stillborn and had catastrophic illness from the std.

She's a mess, as she should be. I don't think she will ever recover. He still is not remorseful. It's a case study in the hell humans foist upon their loved ones.

This is awful. He sounds like a psychopath. Poor woman.

Eh, I've lived in this part of the world and I hope you are right. The wife is either saintly for raising this child when the child may have had no one, OR they could very well be people who essentially pressured this child to be given up by the mother "you can give her less, we can give her so much more" etc , when any decent man would be paying $ for the child either way. I hope that not the case but it's not unheard of for these situations to be a horrible choice for the mother to feel giving away her child is the only hope for a good life

The horrible choice the mother made was to sleep with a married guy. All other bad choices followed.

In fact, this marriage should not recover because the husband is the lowest form of human scum who committed an absolutely unforgivable act of evil, and she should get away from him as soon as possible.

I wonder if criminal charged could be brought against him in this case. He clearly knew and did nothing to prevent his child's death.
