Mom bod in a bikini

Haven't you got a stoning to attend?

Mmm...husband is an asshole for rolling his eyes and going "why", no matter what mom looks like in a bikini. If a bikini is wildly inappropriate for mom to be wearing, then there are respectful kind ways of communicating that.

It is possible that his less-than-tactful response was because of the kind of bikini you bought. A micro, thong, cut-out or otherwise almost-naked bikini is probably not appropriate on most mom-bods. Mature looking (and sexy) women who seem to be trying to look like teenage sex kittens are a bit like dudes with combovers...and everybody understands why the eye-roll for a combover.

There is a 54 year old mom who posts NSFW pictures on reddit's gonewild who does absolutely have the body to get away with a micro-string bikini...so if that's you OP, give DH the finger.

It sounds like the husband needs to get laid.

So what are we supposed to wear? I am honestly asking. I grew up in Europe and there was no meaningful difference between one-piece and bikinis in terms of appropriateness, modesty etc. You and old wore both kinds.

A burqa. And you'd better not be showing any ankles either! You know it brings out the lust demon in men and they will rape the first woman they see!

Seriously - that is one thing I have enjoyed about the beaches in Europe and the Carribean. People just wear what they want. Or nothing at all. Europe is so much more laid back about sexuality. I blame the Puritans for America's hang up about sex. Silly religious idiots. God bless 'em.

My SO is 60 and had 1 child. Although she doesn't wear bikinis, she certainly could.
She is athletic and works out several times a week. She looks fantastic and men from about the age of 40 on up are continually checking her out.
I find that a huge turn on that I'm with a woman that is so attractive to others.
OP's husband sounds like an ass.

If your attitude is "I'm going to wear a bikini no matter how I look in it, because I'm more comfortable in one" that's great and you should do it. But if you want to wear a bikini because you think you look good in it, isn't it a relevent data point that your husband doesn't think so?
I see women our age all the time wearing bathing suits that they apparently think they look good in, when they really don't. (Same goes for a lot of young women too, but I think the odds of looking good in a bikini at age 45, particularly after kids, is pretty slim.). If you don't care what you look like, great. But if you're doing it to look great, then wouldn't you want your husband to be honest?

Well said.

And, I do wonder how she would feel if her husband went out in a speedo.

Well, personally, I don't care for anything bigger than a C cup...really a B is pretty ideal, IMO - they certainly hold their form far better past age 25. Not really interested in "voluptuous" winnebagos that point to the floor when not supported.

OP here. I feel like I need to answer some of these posts with my size not that size matters. I'm 5'2, size 2/4, big boobs, and i bought 2 bikinis. 1 high waisted, the other not. Neither is a thong or has tassels. They both hide my c-section scar-not that I care; it's my badge. I feel sexy in both. No, I'm not competing with my DDs or those in their 20s. I've had 3 kids, my boobs sag, my tummy isn't flat, but I feel confident and sexy in both suits. Just wondering why DH attempted to mock me. I'm going to wear both; I didn't pack any full piece. Thank you to all who gave me the encouragement!

I was at a pool party a few weeks ago where a woman in her mid 70s showed up in a bikini..and could still pull it off, though it was questionable.

Way fewer guys in the age ranges being discussed have any business wearing a speedo. I'm in my late 40s and I have a speedo for wearing under a wetsuit when diving (so I have someething on when I take the suit off on the boat), but DW thoroughly castigates me (no eye roll) for wearing it.

Nice try honey.

My DH has no idea how much I weighed on our wedding day, or today, after ten years and two kids. He sure as hell does not know what a tankini is, and he would never use the word "cute" to describe an article of clothing.

haha same. The idea of a man writing this is laughable.

Really? I can see my DH saying something like this. A tankini isn't an obscure piece of clothing. My DH might not have known what it's called without me saying something first, but if we had been talking about it at some point, he would remember what it's called. Not all men are clueless.

When I read what OP's teen daughters thought I immediately wondered how in shape they were. I have seen some teens who have large muffin tops wearing bikinis. The percentage of children and adolescents today who are obese are 3 to 4 times higher than it was 30+ years ago.

OP, my DDs are size 0.. They are naturally thin. Why are you body shaming Teens?

PP, take your experience for what it is but don't assign it as fact to others. This is a husband, me, who knows what my wife weighed at marriage and knew she weighed even less 25 years later. Oh, and she gave birth to, and raised as a SAHM, three fantastic children during that time. She had a great figure when we married and I think an even better one on our 25th.
