But Op isn't even talking about a guy that necessarily likes "big women". She's talking about observing a husband and a wife at the pool and wondering why the fit/hot husband would have a wife like that.

She likely was slim when they met. But pregnancy, age, hormonal fluctuations and metabolic issues have made her heavier than she used to be. Obviously they stick together because their relationship works for them and they have a genuine love for each other.

It's nice when couples remain fit and trim throughout their lives but that isn't doable for everybody. Women need to stop being so damn hard on themselves. You do the best you can and if you have some tub on you after giving birth and hitting middle age - BFD. Exercise damage control but don't beat yourself up for it.

Yeah, the guy is an anomaly. Fitness trainers tend to go for very fit bodies. This guy sounds like he is looking for a project to work on - maybe he needs to feel needed by someone who clearly needs him....it's like the super smart guy who always goes for the less brainy types.
