It says a lot about our sad values as a society when we can't imagine a man could love his wife, even if she's overweight. She's got to be wealthy or a beard. It's especially infuriating when women assume such things about other women.

And I'm tall and thin and in great shape but even if I wasn't, this would still piss me off.

OP didn't just say it was a bigger woman though, but that she was also frumpy and unattractive and not put together. I've seen plenty of larger well-put together women and would think no one would question why a conventionally attractive guy would be with her.

Maybe they were once more equally matched, but post kids he spends all his time at the gym and is emotionally and verbally abusive.

While she's so busy working full time, basically raising the kids on her own, and keeping house, she doesn't have time to go to the shops to find nice clothes and fix up her hair and makeup.

+1 I have a friend who is a very good looking fitness trainer who exclusively dares fate women. Not chubby slightly overweight women but morbidly obese women. It's what he likes. Who cares?
