Men: How much did you spend on the engagement ring?

Why does the stone have to be a diamond?

Her anal ring: Priceless.

Tbh, it sounds like the market has spoken.

After $35K, she pretty much has to.

We didn't see the need for rings. Spent the money on a couple trips to Hawaii and lube. Experiences over things.

Appraisals always are higher. We bought my diamond from a lady who was sick of it on eBay for $8k. GIA certified H/VS1. It appraised for $17k.

DH spent about $29k for my ering, $2k for my wedding band.

$5500 when I was 20 and making less than $9000 a year while going through undergrad. Best I could afford and doubt she'd trade for anything.

My MIL paid for my engagement ring (diamond ring etc. - no idea what it cost).

My DH gave me a gold ring when we married. It was worth two hundred dollars now. He borrowed the money from me and did not ever pay me back. So, in a way I bought my own wedding ring. If my DH would ever buy fine jewelry for me I would be beyond pissed. I can live with fashion jewelry and I could think of many other pleasant things I could do with the money.

$300. I'm the wife and I picked it. I wanted something small and inexpensive because I don't like wearing jewelry and knew I would rarely wear it.

With a guy like you, I wouldn't want to trade it for anything neither! How long have you been married now? 5,500 for a ring when you were making less than9k is monumental!! Some might even say stupid, but you knew then you had all your years ahead and a college degree to get a higher paying job and the expense was worth it.

No, he was making slightly more than me but we were both making good money at 29 and owned homes.

Does it mean you can actually sell it for that much? I thought the markup was insane enough to make you lose money no matter what.

1.5 carat high specs, $18k in 2010. Blue nile.

Simple platinum band, probably $600.

These rings are so expensive!

Do all these men have family money to spend? Or are high earning lawyers?

My BF who is about to propose to me sat me down and told me he cannot afford a nice ring for me so he will get me one for like 2k. It was hard to swallow.

My engagement ring was a family ring (free) and my wedding band was from an estate sale. So, pretty much nothing.
