No, though this would make the explanation more plausible for me. |
Every Tuesday night for years I skated at a rec center from 5 pm to 11 pm. I was covered in bruises on any given week from other people not being able to skate or stop.

Yes, I did check this. No inner thigh bruising. Also, no "hand prints"/brusie on her body, which happens sometimes after we do it. Thats what makes me not feel strongly re: affair. |
Is there a skating ring in southern Maryland? |
What the hell is BDSM? Sounds like its NSFW to search this. She does have butt bruising. While not on her wrists, she does have it on her arms. Particularly her forearm and elbows. Last week she had a bad black and blue on her tricep area. Also bruising below her rib cage that still is discolored. I will need to check her ankles, I honestly never thought to look there. Didn't notice anything. |
This sounds like crossfit-type training. (ropes, heavy objects, etc.). A relative of mine is a Crossfit enthusiast and has also done several Tough Mudders. Sounds nuts, hard, cultish, and unappealing to me, but I must admit he went from effeminate doughboy to muscular hardbody and enjoys it. So, clearly, whatever I think is irrelevant. Don't be a douche and follow her. Praise her effort and ask if you and the kids can go to the race and cheer her on! Strong, fit women are great examples for boys and girls! |
I have had pretty bad bruising in different areas of my body, some unexpected, from cross fit, Parkour and yoga. I have had all the bruises she describes from crossfir and boot camps. Yoga has bruised almost every part of my body at some point, but not my knuckles. It sounds to me as if she is really trying hard to get back in shape after having an incredible number of kids in a short time, so she has a personal trainer who is doing a boot camp class that he claims will make her better at a triathlon. It is likely 1-2 hours of strength work, a run, a bike ride and a swim, which would take a long time and be consistent with her injuries. |
Also, the instructor website says nothing about boxing or martial arts. |
Maybe she needs to have her iron checked. |
Yeah, I don't understand why OP just can't ask her what gym she's training at and say that it seems odd that triathlon training would lead to such bruising. But mainly find out what gym it is - I'm sure they have a website that describes the kind of training they offer. |
Sorry, just saw that you addressed this later. |
I get all of this. This is why I didn't think much it at first. After the last two weeks, with the bruise marks and bruised/swollen knuckles, and now cheekbone--thats what set me off. Prior weeks, bruising was still there, but not as pronounced. |
I dunno, I'm a skater too and even if you fall every single time when you skate, skating injuries tend to be focused only on certain parts of your body. You wouldn't be "covered" in bruises. You'd get one on your hip from falling, maybe on your elbow or forearm from failed fall saves etc. |
The other thing was (and still not totally) informed on Tuff Mudder/Warrior Dash or these other apparently extreme forms of working out. I was basing my concerns off of what I know about triathlons. Something more extreme would explain some of it, but I guess I'm still stuck on the knuckles. Are there ANY of these extreme workouts that involve punching something? Walking on your knuckles? |
Roller Derby was a good thought. I'm going to add in American Ninja Warrior training. Tough Mudder is crazy, like they tase you. Is the 6 hours including driving time. I could somewhat believe that she is trying to climb walls, crawl around, etc. and get some bruises. I'm just not sure why she wouldn't be talking about it more, and it's definitely not a triathlon. |
