To the nonbelievers of the Georgetown Attack... Car window smashed and handbag stolen last week

I didn't know that wishing to live live without predatory criminals robbing, knifing or shooting them is "white privilege."

Based on his repeated difficulties and actions, George Zimmerman appears to be a hot-headed, impulsive, anger-prone guy at the very least. He's also killed someone. Hardly the type we need patrolling the streets. He needs to be locked up himself.

+1. But I am starting to believe that if ordinary citizens were able to fight back against these thugs, there would be fewer such crimes.

This.

It doesn't matter if it's Georgetown or your personal driveway. Really it's a crime of opportunity and it happens everywhere - even the best neighborhoods.

So its really YOUR fault if it happens; YOU are the one to blame.

Yes, that's right. If you leave your purse in plain site in your car and then leave your car unattended, then it is fact your fault for making your car am easy target.

That's right. Thugs gonna thug.

Just like if you wear a short skirt and tight fitting shirt, then it's your fault for making yourself an easy target for rape. I get it.

No, but expecting to live without such things is certainly affluent privilege.

I see - everyone's a victim. Take no personal responsibility. Got it. Why even lock you car doors? Your house doors? Maybe you should walk around wearing a t-shirt with your credit card info, SSN, etc. printed on it.

Do you blame rape victims for wearing a skirt

+1

It's the women who made up the other story - felt like she needed something else to support her claim.

If they wear one in an unsafe location - sure. They should know better.

Do you lock your house doors?

How about demanding to live without them? We need more effective police protection to nip this spike in crime in the bud as it spikes and spreads in formerly pretty safe areas. Call it white privilege if you want, which means that you wallow in the false bigotry of low expectations. Sorry, but as a longstanding Washingtonian and taxpaying citizen, I expect DC to provide more than shithouse services.

My translation of this thread: "Thuggers gonna thug."

Why do young black men commit nearly all of the violent crimes in DC? What's wrong with them??

Anyone who lives in DC should KNOW not to leave visible valuables in the car.

Way to blame the victim, PP.

Only a naive dolt from the suburbs would say that. OP knows better.

Naive? No. Suburban dweller? Yes. I am a DC Native and moved out because of crazy crime like this that people are all too willing to tolerate. I don't want to be paranoid 24-7 and I really hate the attitude of thuggers gonna thug and "oh, well, the poor guy probably needed the Kate Spade purse more than I did. I'm sure he's got hungry mouths to feed." The only thing he's got to feed is his drug habit!

I don't think this supposed incident qualifies as a violent crime but thanks for steering the conversation toward the inevitable argument about race, I'm sure the other xenophobes appreciate you getting the ball rolling to initiate a discussion about the ever popular topic about them.

If I were to guess, the spike in crime is due to the legalization of marijuana in the District. Drug pushers have been left jobless and are now resorting to robbery.
